The Piedmont Discovery smartphone app – a joint app produced and managed by Greensboro, High Point and Guilford County – just got a lot better with new features and new details on local places to visit. The mobile app is a park and trail locater, and on Monday, Sept. 13, the app’s makers announced that it now includes parks, trails and recreational options in Gibsonville, Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden, Stokesdale and Summerfield.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners was a lot different 20 years ago. But all of the current county commissioners remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001 extremely well, and they intend to show the memory of the tragedy the respect it deserves at the board’s Thursday, Sept. 2 meeting. That’s the last commissioners meeting that falls before the two-decade anniversary of the terrorist attack that brought down the twin towers, and, at the meeting, the commissioners will pass a resolution honoring the memory of the dead and others who suffered.
