Last week most City of Greensboro offices were closed for three days. This week most are only closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The good news is that garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup will be picked up on the regular schedule. However, if you are a do-it-yourselfer and have a big load of trash to dispose of, both the Solid Waste Transfer Station on Burnt Poplar Road and the White Street Landfill on White Street will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Christmas trees are considered yard waste and will be picked up on your regular collection day. However, trees are supposed to conform to the same standards as other yard waste, which means if your tree is over 5 feet tall you should cut it so no piece is over 5 feet long.

The Greensboro Transit Agency (city bus service) and SCAT (paratransit service) will not be providing any service on Wednesday, Jan. 1. And the GTA office will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation office will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, but regional parks including Barber, Country, Hester, Keeley and Price will be open.
