The City of Greensboro’s pools and spraygrounds are closed for the summer because of the coronavirus, which should make the temporary spraygrounds being set up by city on Tuesdays and Thursdays through August 13 popular events.
The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is joining forces with the Greensboro Fire Department to host “Greensboro Community Hose Down” at six different recreation centers in the city during the next three weeks. The events are free.
Greensboro Community Hose Downs will be held:
Tuesday, July 28 at Warnersville Recreation Center, 601 Doak St.
Thursday, July 30 at Lindley Recreation Center, 2907 Springwood Dr.
Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Windsor Recreation Center, 1601 Gate City Blvd.
Thursday, Aug. 6 at Lewis Recreation Center, 3110 Forest Lawn Dr.
Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Leonard Recreation Center, 6324 Ballinger Road
Thursday, Aug. 13 at Peeler Recreation Center, 1300 Sykes Ave.
During the Community Hose Down no more than 25 people will be allowed to play in the spray at one time, and if people are waiting there will be a rotation every 15 minutes.
Even in the spray area people are asked to stay six feet apart from anyone who doesn’t live in their household. The city is also requested that everyone wear a facemask while they are waiting to go into the spray area or just watching those in the spray area.
The Community Hose Downs are being held at city recreation centers, but the centers are closed for the summer due to the coronavirus as are the playgrounds.
The information about the Greensboro Community Hose Downs is listed on the GSO: Greensboro Summer Online calendar which can be found here, www.gsosummeronline.com.
