With Christmas less than two weeks away, the City of Greensboro has announced its holiday closings.

The long and the short of it is that if you have any business to do with the City of Greensboro before the end of the year, this would be the week to get it done.

City offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 27 and closed on Friday, Dec. 31.

However, garbage, recycling and yard waste collections will remain the same on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24.  There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Monday, Dec. 27 and those collections will be made Tuesday, Dec. 28.  The normal Tuesday routes for garbage and recycling collection will be moved to Wednesday, Dec. 29.  Garbage and recycling collections on Thursday, Dec. 30 and Friday, Dec. 31 will remain according to the normal schedule.

The White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 and remain closed on Christmas and Monday, Dec. 27.  They will also be closed on Saturday, Jan. 1.

The Greensboro Public Library system including the Greensboro History Museum will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 27 and also closed on Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 1.

All the recreation centers of the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department including Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers, Xperience @ Caldcleugh will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 27 and also closed on Friday, Dec. 31 through Sunday, Jan. 2.

The Greensboro Sportsplex, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion, Barber Park Events Center and Gateway Gardens Event Center will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 27 and closed on Friday, Dec. 31.

Lake Brandt, Lake Higgins and Lake Townsend are closed on Friday Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 1.

If you’re looking for a round during the Christmas season, Gillespie Golf Course will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 remain closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 but return to normal operating hours on Sunday, Dec. 26.

The Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) and Access GSO on Friday, Dec. 24 will operate on an hourly schedule with service ending at 6 p.m.  There will be no service on Saturday, Dec. 25.  On Friday, Dec. 31 GTA and Access GSO will operate on an hourly schedule ending at 6 p.m. and there will be no service on Saturday, Jan. 1.
