A letter to the editor by Rhino Times Reader Patrick Henry
May 1st…May Day.
The same date with two different meanings. A day of spring and the start of summer in many cultures, a day celebrated by socialists/communists as InternationalWorkers’ Day, a day that commemorates workers’ historic struggles and achievements in others.
Care to guess which one all these ‘celebrations’ taking place across the country are celebrating?
What scares me is the size of these crowds and I have to wonder if they really know what they are marching/protesting for. Most likely not, so let me give you a hint…Marx and Lenin.
Bernie and his protégé AOC are out there making it known, almost openly, that they want to dismantle the capitalist system and replace it with a socialist/communist one. It seems like every other word out of their mouths was oligarchy, or millionaires/billionaires, or ‘the rich’ (and I have yet to hear anybody define ‘rich’) and if you disagree with them you are one of the above, regardless of what your income is.
Is the capitalist system perfect? No, far from it. But it does allow one who has the drive and desire to achieve or fail on their own. In Bernie and AOCs world you work for the State, not yourself. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”
It may not be the best, but it will be the best until the best shows up.
Patrick Henry

You clearly lack any understanding of what Maxism or communism actually mean. No one is calling for collective ownership of production. Are you just using those lables because they sound scary? Or you just repeating the trope of conservative talking heads that make mo ey off your fear and fake anger?
The fight against the gross separation of wealth is that those that benefit the most from the econonmy have too much control over government, pay far less than their fair share of taxes, and avoid justice due to their massive wealth. All at the expense of everyday Americans.
Did Trump play fair when he hid beside lawyers when he bankrupted subcontractors by failing to pay them for services rendered? Is it fair thst Amazon and Walmart pay such low wages their employees required federal foodstamps to feed their families?
You admit things are not perfect. Liberals just want you to admit things are broken and overly favor the wealthy at your expense.
But you be you.
“…from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs…”

Patrick Henry is correct because socialism is, by its own definition, the way to accomplish a Marxist-Leninist society peacefully. Marx and Engels envisioned a violent revolution, and one which would occur in an advanced capitalist society. They both believed that it would be Great Britain.
They were wrong, as they were wrong about everything else. Their premises were wrong and so their conclusions were wrong. “Garbage in – Garbage out”. But, most famously, the Fabians tried to make lemonade out of lemons, and tried to accomplish communism through peaceful means, gradually and surreptitiously.
This is the strategy of today’s Leftists. In the US they call themselves “Democrats”. “Communists” is such a polarizing term…
And the balance of your comment Chris, is rambling gibberish.
More ‘garbage out’ from Austin.
Show me where any democrat wants public ownership of production? What democrat is against private ownership of business.
Readers should note that this is a common refrain from those that like to use scary words that they think they can link to democrats with but clearly has no basis in truth. People like Austin rely on the ignorance and laziness of people like Alan to create fear and anger against those that disagree with their point of view. And of course they get all bent out of shape when democrats do the same thing by referring to Trump and conservatives as fascists.
Typical conservative BS and hypocrisy. Yawn.
Hey Austin, it’s so much fun living in Chris’s head why don”t we throw a party and invite all the REAL adults
Lol, Austin comments on all my comments as HE can’t get me out of HIS head. Alan just projecting again. Not shocked. Lmao
Good idea! He’s so obnoxious and constitutionally vitriolic that I believe he really has mental health issues.
Either that or he is an exceptionally toxic and hate-filled personality.
Or both.
If this is just the kind of tripe you have, you’re better off just shutting up.
Austin,
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t some of Chris’ comments pull back, ever so slightly, a veil hiding sympathy and support for a socialist society?
Maybe it’s just me.
You’re absolutely correct, PH. Growing up in the UK taught me that socialists always present themselves as moderate and reasonable, merely wanting a little more “justice” in our world. But their movement always creates a bigger, more powerful state, and their concept of justice never allows for a lesser state or greater freedom. Just more control, less liberty.
Margaret Thatcher called the “The Ratchet Effect”.
She was right, of course, as she always was.
How so? Mildly curious for an example. Be sure to use the actual definition of socialism: “Socialism is an economic and political system characterized by social ownership of the means of production, meaning that resources and the tools used to create goods and services are owned collectively rather than privately. It encompasses a range of theories and movements that aim to implement such systems, with the goal of creating a more equitable society.”
Bet you can’t.
Patrick, please allow me…
“Do you believe the system we have today is working? Tying of healthcare to employment leaves people highly vulnerable if their employer doesn’t offer healthcare, or offers very low-quality healthcare, or if you get sick while between employment (when you are the most financially vulnerable).
But to answer your question on who will pay for it? Same as today, you and employers will pay for via taxes. Instead of a copay premium, you pay a tax. Not complicated. Sure, many conservatives will call it a tax increase, but I call it a wash. Even better with the collective bargaining power of the government, drugs and treatments can be made more cost effective.
In regard to access to healthcare providers, it is already a challenge to get quality general care access. You are lucky if you even see a real doctor versus a nurse practitioner or a PA.
It would not be an easy transition for sure. But it is necessary given how broken our current system has become and how many people are left out of preventive care treatment all together.”
I’m sorry but my high school education leads me to believe this sounds a lot like a socialist system. Austin, how about you?
But hey, you be you
