Help District 8 School Board Candidate Get On The Ballot
Dear Editor,
I wholeheartedly agree with John Hammer’s endorsement of Board of Education candidates Crissy Pratt in District 2 and Tim Andrew in District 6. These two candidates, when added to Linda Welborn in District 4 and Robert Millican in District 8, will surely make a formidable New Vision, New Direction team. However, Robert is not quite on the ballot yet.
Robert, a conservative Independent, must secure 1,700 petition signatures from District 8 voters to earn his spot on the ballot. Robert could have easily changed his party to Republican to automatically be on the ballot. But as a life-long Independent, he stayed true to his character and morals. However, if Robert falls short of his goal, the Democrat incumbent, Deena Hayes-Green, will run unopposed (again) leaving District 8 voters without a choice in November. While many are enthusiastic for a board change and eagerly signing the petition, Robert is still short a few hundred signatures. If District 8 residents want a choice in November, more registered voters will need to sign the petition by May 17.
Please do this through his website at www.millicanforschoolboard.com or email at millicanforschoolboard@gmail.com.

Expand The Supreme Court
Dear Editor,
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that we have to have nine Supreme Court justices. Nor would it require a constitutional amendment to add more seats. In fact, Congress has expanded the Supreme Court five times throughout American history.
Congress should use its constitutional authority to rebalance the Supreme Court, which has been taken over by a supermajority that holds extreme views outside of the mainstream of legal thought and out of step with most Americans. That’s why Congress must pass the Judiciary Act, which would add four seats to the Supreme Court and help stem the right-wing supermajority’s attacks on our fundamental freedoms, including the right to access abortion care.
There’s nothing stopping Congress from adding justices — except for the political will to do it, of course. In fact, recent polling showed that the majority of the American voters they represent support expanding the court. That’s why I’m urging Congress to pass to support the Judiciary Act of 2021 and add four seats to the Supreme Court.

Why Did First Lady Go To Ukraine?
Dear Editor,
What is Mrs. Biden’s visit to Ukraine going to accomplish?
Is she taking medical and food supplies with her?
Is she going to hug and wish the imprisoned well?
Do the tragically isolated care to see her? Will her smile protect, heal or provide assistance for them? Or is she going to stay and help care for the sick and hungry?
How much will the trip cost American taxpayers/transportation, staff, etc.? Is the massive plane carrying any supplies?
What is the purpose?

Ms. Adams: The constitution does not cover every possible subject. That is why Roe vs. Wade was such a bad idea to begin with. It was a ruling, not a constitutional amendment. There are so many people who know so little about how federal, state and local government authority is established and yet they are the ones who scream the loudest about subjects they are completely ignorant about. Overturning Roe vs Wade simply puts the decision making in the hands of the people of each state. What can be more fair? If this is such a “popular right” as you claim, then the people in each state will vote for legalizing abortions. You must be worried that there are actually more people against unlimited abortions than approve or you would not be afraid to let the people decide rather than 9 or 13 or 51 Supreme Court Justices.
Judy,
I hate to say it, but appears that your opinion is not fact-based. In this politically-divisive period in our history, giving virtual dictatorial powers to one party would hasten the end of our Republic.
Expand the Court…allow me to translate;
Liberals have lost control of the Court due to conservative, Constitution reading, level thinking Judges being selected for the Bench so we need to add more seats in order to allow us (Liberals) to regain the majority and once again return to writing laws, not interpreting it as the Supreme Court is supposed to be doing.
This will put the Constitution that much closer to leftist liberal shredder.
Judy the majority of Americans do not want to expand the court, unless you cherry pick your polls. Ruth Bader Ginsberg herself was against expanding the court. Ginsberg along with a good number of constitutional scholars Felt that the ruling Roe v Wade was extremely problematic when it came to his constitutional merit. The irony of Roe is ruling came down from a bunch of old white guys. As to Congress expanding the court, that’s the whole reason the Democrats want to do away with filibuster. They don’t have 50 votes in the Senate.
Judy it is evident that you are a slightly young Democrat. You are also upset by the leak(probably by one of the young Democrat lawyers on the court )that The Judges were looking at Roe vs Wade.
This decision gives the voting back to the Individual states to let the persons of that state decide on the law concerning Abortions. There has not been any discussion that a woman could not get an abortion .The Federal government has no business telling the states who can get an abortion ,I remember several years ago a young girl had gone to congress to ask for them to pay for her to engage in her sexual activity. There comes a time when you have to have some Skin in the game and not your sugar daddy carring the whole load.
I have a very interesting question!!!!!!!! Why are the Democrats so ‘hell- bent ‘ on killing so many children. If I was a black I would be interested in why most of these clinics show up in the minority neighborhood and why about 25-30 % of aborted babies are black. Since Roe started there have been 63 million babies ‘Killed’.
Look at the Democrats leaders of today, if we don’t get them out of office ,America will become Like Cuba or like other communist countries. We are headed towards being a third world country, overrun by any number of people from 200 countries around the world .No nation can withstand the number of foreigners that we have coming over our Southern Border .also China is dumping fentanyl into Mexico and being distributed in the US by the cartel .Each person that a cartel member has helped enter the US pays them for services. The cartel has made Billions of dollars (thanks Joe Biden).
Are you missing Trump yet?
Have yet to meet a democrat who misses Trump (especially since he hasn’t left politics yet). Saying that democrats will turn the US into Cuba or like other communist countries is hyperbolic BS from people who live with hate for anyone that thinks differently than they do. Here are some facts to counter your argument.
It is the republicans that wanted to stop the peaceful transfer of power after a free and fair election.
It is the republicans that want to punish private business just for speaking out against a public policy position.
It is the republicans that want to ban books that write about topics they disagree with.
It is republicans that have written laws to fine or jail election officials that don’t behave in ways they agree with…
These are real actions taken by some modern republican leaders. They are actions that should scare most Americans. These are truly undemocratic actions in my opinion and it does make me even more nervous that we lack a politically neutral supreme court to defend our INDIVIDUAL rights from these types of actions from STATE rights leadership.
No, the republicans are not destroying democracy. Neither are the democrats. But the modern republicans certainly seem to be less interested in individual rights and that is upsetting. Judy is a bit panicked calling for the expansion of the supreme court. But I see where she is coming from….
You have no idea of what’s happening. The trite notions of the old flower power leftists are quaint ancient history. Today’s Leftists are more sinister. The proponents of The Great Reset, like the Canadian Prime Minister, see a future in which we are mere serfs who “own nothing and will be happy”.
It’s a Brave New World – just as Aldous Huxley predicted.
——
There is a huge battle brewing, between those who crave control over others and those in believe in freedom. As a microcosm you can see it in the battle for Twitter. A uniformly statist platform controllee by Leftist has been purchased by someone who believes in free speech – and the Leftists are horrified.
Doesn’t that say it all?
All Leftists are closet fascists.
Again, you state Dems crave control yet it is the Republican party that has whined about massive fraud that never occurred as justification for attempting to stop the free transfer of power. All the dems did was Get Out The Vote legally….republicans should try it some time.
It is hypocrisy to claim the dems want power more than republicans. Republicans are the ones shutting down free speech and banning books. Yet you fear the party that supports individual rights…even those they don’t agree with…
What a joke.
“The party that supports individual rights”…? Is that the same party that forced millions of Americans to get injected with experimental “vaccines”? The same party that then screams “My Body – My Choice” ? The same party that’s trying to establish official government censorship of speech ? The same party that’s trying to deprive individuals of their right to be able to protect themselves and their families ?
YOU are the joke here, buddy.
I don’t know where Judy is getting her information from but most Americans DO NOT want to expand the
court. I’m sure Judy wasn’t whining when the court was leaning LEFT. Like most leftists they are quiet when getting
their way, but squeal like petulant children when they do not.
Hahaha, you mean the modern conservatives are still squealing over losing a free and fair election? What a joke.
