Western civilization has seen the MAGA movement before, with its systematic discrimination based on financial power, illegitimate political power, faulty science, religious chauvinism, racism, and sexism.
In the Middle East today, Israel uses biblical “chosen people” ideology to discriminate against and make perpetual war against Palestinians.
Some decades ago in South Africa, MAGA was known as apartheid, which was based on white supremacy. MAGA is taking the same approach against brown-skinned Hispanics today.
During World War II, MAGA was manifest in Japanese internment camps in America and ethnic cleansing of Jews in Germany.
At the turn of the twentieth century in America, MAGA sexist discriminatory thinking was responsible for spawning the Women’s Voting Rights movement.
In the late 1800s, MAGA was defined by “Robber Baron” monopolism and anti-unionism.
In the post-Civil War south, MAGA law knew a complementary system called Jim Crow law limiting black civil rights relating to property and education.
In early American history, MAGA was called Manifest Destiny, which was used to isolate Native Americans on the reservation.
Today, MAGA is trashing scientific evidence and due process in public affairs based on racist, sexist, and force-based impulses like these earlier ones in history.

I DO agree that a big difference is that Islamic terrorism is the most common form of State sponsored terrorism. I strongly support the separation of Church and State and believe that the current trend by US conservatives to push Christianity into our political policies is taking us in the wrong direction. When a State gets involved in terrorism, religion just becomes the propaganda tool they use to control the population via Identity Politics to enable their power structure. You can easily see flavors of this in some of Trump’s Executive orders most likely written by the Heritage Foundation that openly push Christian Nationalist ideals.

A baby born TODAY will be 30 to 35 years old with a family of their own and will STILL BE PAYING FOR THE BONDS. This allows me breaks of time where I am busier than others across a 24-hour day. FYI, I love the diversity of working for a global company where I get to meet and engage with people from a wide range of back grounds and cultures. Calling policy disagreements bigotry is a way to avoid debating them on the merits.
Equating MAGA with Nazi Germany or apartheid South Africa is not only inaccurate but reckless. Those systems stripped people of citizenship, enforced racial law by force, and eliminated political opposition. MAGA supporters argue, vote, organize, and litigate within the democratic process. One can criticize their views without resorting to historically false and inflammatory comparisons.
The letter also misrepresents science and due process. Questioning government mandates, regulatory overreach, or expert consensus is not hostility toward science. Science advances through testing and challenge, not enforced conformity. Defending due process, limits on executive power, and constitutional rights is not an attack on the rule of law. It is a defense of it.
Just as important, the author ignores the positive case for the MAGA movement. MAGA reflects a broad demand for better government, not less democracy. Its supporters want accountability from elected officials, secure borders because laws matter, responsible spending because debt harms working families, public safety, energy reliability, and institutions that answer to voters rather than permanent bureaucracies or political elites.
That impulse is not radical. It is civic. It mirrors reform movements throughout American history that arose when government drifted too far from the people it was meant to serve. History will not record this period as a return to oppression or exclusion. It will record it as a corrective moment, a time when Americans demanded higher standards from those in power. I think you are mistaking the Left’s view of MAGA as separate from mainstream Republicans. The left typically views MAGA as Trumpism based on racist views on immigration, anti-science, anti-education, and generally people who would rather believe conspiracy theories and claim the facts are just lies and anyone who disagrees with them as liars and evil.
MAGA is a cult built on propaganda, lies and hate. Nothing more and nothing less. Republicans is a party that has been taken over by this cult and have yet been able to figure out how to get out from under Trump’s influence over his MAGA cult.
Many republicans support Trump as a means to an end but don’t support all his racist, ignorant and divisive views. Many are starting to regret their vote for him but NOT their vote for Republicans.

I agree, I worry that Trump and his use of military against US citizens, his sweeping aside of the rule of law to kill people for ‘suspected’ activities, his harming legal immigrants AND US citizens in his pursuit of Deporting undocumented immigrants will be turned against me as an outspoken online commentor who openly points out his lies, bigotry, fraud, grifting and hate.
Hopefully enough Americans will vote blue in mid terms and restore the backbone to Congress so they can stand up to the tyranny of the Trump administration.

The elections of 1932 and 1933 produced a consistent plurality of votes for the Nazis, but without a majority.
Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor became unavoidable, and on assuming power he embarked on a clearly Leftist program of massive spending financed with massive borrowing and tax hikes, heavy handed intervention in private industry, subtle control over the mass media, and de jure crippling of political opponents (just as the German govt. is today trying to ban the AfD).
Hitler banned the Communist Party because they were the competition, taking away Leftist votes from the National Socialists.
And Hitler said many conflicting things about the name of his Party over the years. He would say whatever was expedient in any given context. Just ask Neville Chamberlain.

You are presenting a very edited view of how Nazi party rose to power. You clearly excluded (as I noted above) he banned the socialist party as well as the communist party. My notes above counter your entire argument and requires no additional clarity given you simply ignored all the points I made above that counter your false argument.

The Nazis (the German abbreviation for National Socialists) were such classic Leftist control freaks that they not only embarked on the massive public spending of the Autobahn system, they even wanted to build the cars people had to drive. This was no Laissez Faire free market system. It was state socialism in action. Like all Leftists the world over, they claimed they were working on behalf of the people – so like the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Liberation Army, etc, etc they named the vehicle… the People’s Car. Or in German, Volkswagen.
Hitler viewed the Jews as arch-capitalists, preying on the German people and workers. From their banks to their little shops, he saw them as predators, not entrepreneurs. He saw capitalism as fundamentally exploitative, as all Leftists do – because he was an inveterate Leftist (with totalitarian tendencies, but that’s a given when you admit he’s a Leftist).

What the dem’s tried to do to Trump was identical to what Putin did to Navalny and all other opponents of Putin’s regime. Finally, if you had written and published this letter in any of the historical political regimes you site as being just like MAGA, it never would have been published and in many cases, would have led to your incarceration and other punishments by those political regimes that were in power.
