Labor Day Greetings From Labor Commissioner Candidate
Dear Editor,
I’d like to wish North Carolina’s five million workers a happy, safe and relaxing Labor Day. They’ve earned it.
Labor Day is a day when we honor the tireless dedication and countless contributions of American workers. It’s a day when we recognize the sweat and sacrifices of generations of men and women who’ve worked hard to give us the highest standard of living the world has ever known.
As a Republican candidate for NC labor commissioner, I’m proud to stand up for the hardworking men and women of our great state. The workers of North Carolina embody what’s best about the American economy – grit, innovation, individual initiative. As labor commissioner, I’ll fight to make sure workers can thrive and businesses can flourish side by side. Those things can and must go together.
If we truly want to honor workers, we need to ensure that our workforce has the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing job market. But that doesn’t necessarily mean a four-year college degree (with thousands in student loan debt that often comes with it). As labor commissioner, I’ll fight for statewide access to vocational and technical education to get our workers ready for the jobs of the future.
As we celebrate Labor Day, let’s remember that North Carolina’s greatest strength lies in the dedication and hard work of its people. God bless our workers who get up every day, do their jobs, provide for their families and make North Carolina a better place for us all.

How about a minimum wage that is somewhere close to a living wage.
Chris, why must you use libtard language? This message is for ALL the dolts who think like libtard Chris. McDonalds isn’t a career! It’s a stepping stone. It’s a starter job for teenagers. If you want to make “a living” wage then get a real job! Stop smoking weed and get serious about life. You don’t have to have a degree to make a living but you will have to, brace yourself… work hard and develop skills in a trade. Besides, most degrees are bought wall paper given to idiots that took on more debt than they can afford and handed out as consolation prizes in hopes the recipient could deliver pizza or use the paper to fool some employer into hiring said idiot.Collision an opportunity for your fellow libtards to brainwash the masses though. Just keeping it real it Chris. Maybe some of your comrades may consider serving this country? Just a thought but certainly an opportunity to learn some real world skills and perhaps pride in themselves and AMERICA!
Company’s don’t pay a living wage so they make large profits while their politicians use our tax dollars to cover the gap with benefits such a food stamps. Conservatives love socialism but not for The People just for for big business since they fund the politicians.
“Company’s” (sic) don’t determine the price of labor any more than you determine the price of your car when you sell it.
The market determines the price of all commodities, unless the state has interfered and warped the allocation of resources.
Didn’t you learn that in your economics studies, Einstein?
Sorry Chris the labor commissioner can’t change the wage rate I don’t think too many companies pay that anyway to much competition for workers. You could always get a second job or even better Move to another state a blue one would suit you better. Have a great Labor Day
I always thought Chris made minimum wage. Most likely more than he is worth. Moving to a blue state is a great idea, and I hope Chris takes us up on the recommendation.
More fun to make a red state blue!!!
Anyone getting minimum wage is probably overpaid.
