There’s been another tragic incident of violence in one of the county’s small towns – only, unlike most public announcements of this sort coming out of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department, this time around its alleged to be husband on wife violence, and the weapon appears to be a blunt instrument rather than a gun.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that, on Monday, April 1, at just after 6:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were called to 7504 Trowbridge Drive in Browns Summit.

Guilford County Emergency Services and fire and rescue workers as well showed up for a reported medical event.

After arriving on the scene that morning, 73-year-old Linda Harper was pronounced dead due to apparent trauma.

Then, detectives with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Investigative Unit began an investigation and that investigation led them to charge Mrs. Harper’s husband, 73-year-old Michael Ray Harper, with Second-Degree Murder.

Upon arrest, Harper was taken to the jail in downtown Greensboro where he received no bond.

Currently, he remains in custody, and Sheriff’s Department officials are conducting an investigation that “remains ongoing.”

Law enforcement officials say that no further details will be released at this time.

They’re asking anyone with knowledge of the situation to provide the department with any relevant details regarding the case.
