There’s a State of the Union Address a State of the State Address and a State of the County Address, which comes later this year, as well as a State of the City address, which just took place.
And now, coming up on Thursday, April 4, Downtown Greensboro Inc. will host the annual State of Downtown Greensboro event with the official purpose of “bringing together the community to learn more about downtown’s incredible momentum and key initiatives for the future.”
Downtown Greensboro has seen its share of big successes as well as challenges in recent years, with a lot of positive growth and new entertainment venues, but there have also been concerns with crime, traffic and other issues.
The event, as all these types of events are, will no doubt be upbeat, and there are a lot of reasons to be upbeat about the city’s downtown in the coming years.
The State of Downtown Greensboro event will feature updates on where downtown Greensboro has been and where downtown leaders plan to take the heart of the city.
Also, nationally known downtown planning experts will provide updates on an initiative for the Depot and its “exciting future.”
The theme of the address is “Momentum and Major Initiatives for the Future.”
It will be held at the Cadillac Service Garage at 304 E. Market St. in Greensboro. Doors open at 8 a.m.
President & CEO, Downtown Greensboro, Inc. Zack Matheny, and Deputy Director of Denver Operations for MIG Mark De La Torre will be the featured speakers.
If you’re interested in the past, future and current state of Greensboro’s downtown, you can RSVP at https://www.paperlesspost.com/go/gjbrNyRfN6db4VHJ2PweX.
Won’t be long until Downtown Greensboro is a Ghost Town! 11 injured just days ago in a Hit and Run of Party Goers in Downtown Greensboro. The young, the foolish, and the invincible may choose to visit the dangerous streets of Downtown Greensboro, but not I and many others!
Your Greensboro City Mayor, your Greensboro Police Chief, and your City Council have destroyed this once fine City with their WOKE attitude on crime and criminals. Yes, only the criminals have any rights in Greensboro. The idiots we have as City Leaders have given them the right to carry weapons, possess marijuana, ignore all traffic laws, disturb the peace with loud mufflers and loud music, and show complete disrespect for Law Enforcement! Wake up Greensboro, “You are on the Eve of Destruction!”
Can you plan a reason to come downtown other than going to court or fighting with City Hall? Safety at night? I wouldn’t visit downtown at night for anything, period.
Ask what the favored caliber of firearm is for criminals in downtown GSO.
Glock 9mm . . . .stolen
I’m sorry, but there’s just something about little Bryan that makes me want to throw up (he goes by Zack).
Just a little too oleaginous.
The word on the street is that if you want to get Zack Matheny involved you must get the cameras rolling or the cameras clicking. Zack only understands his role to promote Downtown Greensboro but forgot his role as an “At Large Greensboro City Councilman” obligated to represent the best interests of the Citizens of Greensboro. I have had a five-year debacle of a constuction project going on next door in Latham Park where every city building code, city ordinance, safety issue, and outrageous storm water violations have occurred. Zack was contacted and didn’t even bother to read the City Ordinances or Building Codes regarding this issue! Why? Because it wasn’t in “Downtown Greensboro”? Or because the cameras weren’t running for Zack? Zack is not part of the solution for the City of Greensboro, he is part of the enormous problems of the City of Greensboro!

I believe it.
I can hear the pitch about how inviting the new performance arts palace is ……but not pointing out the giant fence around the parking lot to keep people from being asked for change.
Downtown GSO is a dangerous place overrun with crime and vagrants.
Nice job Zack.
My next prediction for Downtown Greensboro is The Tanger Center will become the Apollo Theatre of the South. Ignorant to the importance of strict law enforcement by our Mayor, City Council, Chief of Police and thank God our former City Manager the Tanger Center will become infested with crime, drugs, hookers, robberies, shootings, and the homeless. Meanwhile, the City of Greensboro is wasting money building Parking Garages for the future! There is no future for a City that has no clue and makes no effort to control its crime riddled streets! Wake up the clowns, they call it law enforcement for a reason!

State of downtown Greensboro….armpits, like the rest of the city is becoming. Keep on voting your woke clowns into office.
That will happen again.
