On Monday, March 8, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department put out a news bulletin with a few details of a weekend shooting in northern Guilford County.

Guilford County Sheriff Danny Rogers reported in the release that, on Sunday, March 7, at roughly 9:25 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at the 7600 block of Cedar Chase Dr. in the northern part of the county just east of the intersection of NC-150 and Lake Brandt Road.

According to the press release, “One victim was located with serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where the victim was declared dead. A second victim was also transported to a local hospital, and at this time the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”

The department also stated that the investigation is “still ongoing.”

The Sunday night crime comes on the heels of a highly publicized shooting in Irving Park last month. A suspect in that shooting has been apprehended – however, the Sheriff’s Department is asking for help from the public regarding the Cedar Chase Drive double shooting.

Elected officials in Greensboro and Guilford County have spent a lot of time in recent weeks talking about the need to do something to halt the increase in shootings and killings in Greensboro and in all of Guilford County.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking that anyone with information regarding this incident contact Detective Robertson at the Sheriff’s Department at 336-641-5969 or call Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.

The Monday press release notes that all calls to Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous. In addition, Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the person or persons responsible.
