The economy is unquestionably good right now and that’s evident in some news out of the northeastern portion of Greensboro that has a Brown Summit postal address.

On Halloween, Southeastern Paper Group announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate a warehouse expansion in the portion of Greensboro around Lake Townsend that has a Brown Summit address.

Southeastern Paper Group is holding the ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. to celebrate the business growth that includes a 100,000-square-foot addition that roughly doubles the total warehouse space to 210,000-square-feet – allowing the company to deliver more products to customers in Greensboro and the Piedmont Triad area.

The warehouse expansion sits on 12 acres and includes 22 new dock doors and 32-foot high ceilings.

Winsor Construction, a local general contractor, led the project.

The transition into the new space will take place gradually and will mean more jobs for local residents – though the company isn’t saying how many jobs will be added at this point.

“The investment in our Brown Summit warehouse is a testament to the company’s continued growth and success in the region,” said Ken Martin, vice president of operations for the company. “Southeastern has been part of the greater Greensboro community since 1981 and we look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to our current customer base and future customers in the area.”

Southeastern established operations in Greensboro on Industrial Avenue in 1981 out of an 8,000-square-foot building. The company saw significant growth over the years and moved to several locations in Greensboro to support its need for increased space. Since 1989, the company’s warehouse has been located at 6201 Corporate Park Drive in the Bryan Park area of Greensboro.

Southeastern Paper Group is a third-generation family-owned distributor that’s headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina and has served the Southeastern U.S. since 1969 as a supplier of facility and janitorial supplies, food service disposables and industrial packaging equipment and products. The company currently has about 500 employees and nine warehouse facilities, it handles more than 25,000 products.
