“I am thrilled to join the economic development team in Greensboro and Guilford County. From life sciences to logistics and manufacturing, I genuinely believe Greensboro is ripe with opportunity.”

Those were the words of Marvin Price, the man who’s been selected for the important second-in-command job at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. Price will serve as the right-hand man of Greensboro Chamber President and CE0 Brent Christensen. Christensen has been searching for a replacement for someone to fill the executive vice president of economic development slot at the Chamber ever since his long-time friend and associate David Ramsey took a new job this summer.

Price will begin his work with the chamber on Monday, Nov. 2.

Christensen made the announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 14. He said that the selection comes after a nationwide search.

A few weeks ago, Christensen told the Rhino Times that he was spending many hours on the phone seeking just the right person for the job.

“We believe Marvin will lead our team to business recruiting victories in the coming years,” Christensen stated in a Wednesday press release announcing Price’s selection. “Marvin brings expertise and experience as well as contagious enthusiasm and energy to the job. His track record of projects won speaks for itself.”

Price previously worked at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, where he served as vice president of economic recruitment. Before that – from 2016 to 2018 – he worked in a similar job for the Charlotte Regional Partnership.

Price began his career in economic development in Alabama after earning his Master’s degree in Community Planning & Economic Development from Auburn University. He has also worked in economic development during stints at the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, the Birmingham Business Alliance and at Spire, a natural gas utility company.

Some of the most notable projects he’s worked on over the years include Retirement Clearinghouse LLC (headquarters), GoldenHome International, Inc. (US headquarters and manufacturing), Porta North America (US headquarters and manufacturing), Dhollandia MFT (US headquarters and manufacturing), 1-800 Contacts (logistics and distribution) and METYX (additive manufacturing).
