The City of High Point Human Relations Department – together with Brothers and Sisters in Christ (BASiC), the High Point Public Library and the High Point Farmers Market – is hosting the fourth-annual Summer Jubilee back-to-school celebration and backpack giveaway on Saturday, July 30.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the High Point Public Library.

That morning, in the HPB Insurance parking lot at 801 N. Elm St., across the street from the library, community partners will be giving away backpacks filled with school supplies – pencils, notebooks, glue sticks, markers and much more .

Starting at 9 a.m., the packs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are gone.

There will be a lot of activity going on that morning since this event will run in conjunction with the High Point Farmers Market – which will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature live music.

Also, the Jubilee will include a petting zoo from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

High Point’s Summer Jubilee started in 2019 as a collaboration between BASiC, the High Point Human Relations Department, and the High Point Public Library.  Every year since then, it’s grown in size, added community partners and increased funding.

City of High Point Human Relations Manager Rase McCray this week said the Summer Jubilee is a big day for a good reason and praised the cooperation of all those putting it on.

“It’s an incredible collaboration between local businesses, nonprofits, faith organizations and city agencies, all of whom come together each year to help even more families in need,” McCray said.
