If you live in or near High Point and you like kicking back with friends and lighting up a quality cigar – well, you’re about to have a new option where you can do so.

This summer, Southerland’s Cigar Lounge – the vision of cigar aficionado Wayne Southerland – will open at 804 N. Main St. in High Point.

Southerland, an avid cigar smoker, always dreamed of opening up his own cigar lounge, and, since he’s a High Point native, that’s where he wanted it to be.

Like a lot of people from High Point, Southerland has spent much of his life working in the furniture industry.  However, always, in the back of his mind, he was forming his plans for “the perfect cigar lounge.”

In a press release sent out this week announcing the grand opening, Southerland stated that he’d always envisioned the following: “The décor would be extraordinary, the humidor pristine, and the cigars superior.”

Southerland plans to offer various types of cigars for every type of cigar enthusiast – from novice to connoisseur.

Also, the new cigar lounge is designed to be welcoming whether guests want to come in to chat with friends, host a business meeting, plan a party – or simply indulge in a relaxing smoke and a comforting drink.

Southerland’s will be open year-round and will feature plush seats and a bar that’s meant to convey luxury.

Another big attraction will be a 700-square-foot outdoor deck.

The cigar lounge will also have private smoke rooms and lockers for beverage storage.

The new lounge is yet one more option for High Point’s nightlife which – like its business community – has been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years.

It used to be very common for High Point residents to come to downtown Greensboro for its attractions on weekend nights, but now High Pointers like to say that more and more people in Greensboro are coming to High Point to enjoy its entertainment offerings.
