Guilford County Parks and Recreation is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month in July with a variety of events and activities for residents and visitors of all ages, including fireworks, hiking, kayaking, yoga, family activities and more.

County officials said that Parks and Recreation Month highlights the important role parks and recreation play in building stronger, healthier and more vibrant communities. The month is also meaningful for the department because it celebrates its increased focus on recreation, which is now reflected in its name.

“Parks and Recreation Month is a wonderful opportunity to discover all the Guilford County Parks and Recreation system has to offer,” Parks and Recreation Director Dwight Godwin said in a public statement. “Whether you’re exploring one of our seven regional parks, enjoying a walk along our more than 60 miles of trails and greenways, or visiting one of our eleven park preserves, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors throughout the summer and helping create memorable outdoor experiences for people of all ages.”
