The line is no doubt going to be long, but worth the wait.

On Tuesday, May 3, Americans For Prosperity North Carolina is taking over the Pit Stop Gas Station at 1601 Alamance Church Road in Greensboro and reducing the price of gas to what it was when President Joe Biden took office.

Currently, gas is averaging over $4 a gallon, which makes filling up the tank a shocking experience for many people.  So on Tuesday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Americans for Prosperity will be selling gas for $2.40 a gallon, which was the average price of a gallon of gas on Jan. 20, 2021 when Biden took the oath of office.

Americans for Prosperity calls this the “True Costs of Washington” campaign and is targeting nine states including North Carolina with these lower gas prices in an attempt to educate voters about the inflationary policies of the current administration and provide solutions to bring costs down.  Those solutions include unleashing the energy industry, reducing spending and cutting burdensome and costly regulations.

According to Americans for Prosperity, Americans can expect to spend an additional $1,400 this year just on filling up their gas tanks.

That additional $1,400 will get people to the grocery store, but won’t help them pay the high prices once they get there since gas is not the only item that has increased in price.  Pretty much everything has.

According to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, the solution is for Americans to buy electric vehicles, “so they never have to worry about gas prices again.”

Buttigieg did not offer any advice on how the average American trying to cope with inflation could afford the $55,000 the average electric vehicle costs.

Americans for Prosperity is planning on selling about 1,200 gallons of gas for $2.40 a gallon during that hour and a half on May 3.  There is no report on whether they will also be checking the oil and washing windshields, which would really be a step back in time.
