The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) is open to swimmers of all skill levels.
However, from Wednesday, Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 2, the GAC will be hosting some of the top swimmers in the world.
The 2023 US Open Swimming meet, the last significant meet of 2023, is being held at the GAC Wednesday through Saturday.
The finals will begin at 6 p.m. each night, and the Thursday and Friday sessions will be televised by NBC Sports.
Every American who won an individual title in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021) will be competing at the GAC. They include Katie Ledecky, Caeleb Dressel, Bobby Finke, Chase Kalisz and Lydia Jacoby.
Plus, every American who won an individual world title this year is entered. Ledecky leads the list with 28 combined Olympic and world titles.
Dressel has 22 combined Olympic and world titles and is coming back from a months-long break due to medical issues. Dressel won Olympic gold medals in Tokyo in the 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly.
One race that will attract a lot of attention is the women’s 400 meter freestyle, with Katie Ledecky and Summer McIntosh the two favorites. In the 2022 US Open, Ledecky defeated McIntosh by 0.08 (eight hundredths) of a second.
McIntosh of Canada won the 200 meter butterfly and the 400 meter Individual Medley in the last two world championships.
