Friday, June 3 is First Friday in downtown Greensboro, sponsored by Downtown Greensboro Inc. (DGI), with a lot of activities taking place throughout the downtown area.
First Friday Night Live is a free live outdoor concert featuring The Fritz at Autotrends at 431 Battleground Ave. The concert, sponsored by Truliant, is from 7 to 9 p.m. with dining options provided by Sweet’s Turkey BBQ, Over the Rainbow Kettle Corn and Kona Ice.
Beverages at First Friday Night Live will be provided by Bull City Cider and Havk Brewing.
The Greensboro Cultural Center at 200 N. Davie St. will be celebrating First Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. with live performances, open galleries and a variety of creative activities that include chances to win prizes.
Next door, Le Bauer Park will host Casa Azul & Maria Gonzalez for a night of Latin dancing from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to learn Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and more from the guest instructors.
Across the street, Center City Park will be holding First Friday Art Park with the Art Alliance. Painters, potters and other artists will be demonstrating their skills and there will be hands-on projects led by artist-instructors from the Art Alliance.
The International Civil Rights Center and Museum at 134 S. Elm St. will be holding Jazz Up June featuring In Tune from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
From 6 to 10 p.m. SouthEnd Brewing Co. at 116 S. Lewis St. will feature Retro Vinyl performing classic rock, R&B and a bit of Country in the parking lot behind the brewery. Several local vendors will be on hand and of course SouthEnd Brewing will be providing beverages.
Those are just a few of the activities scheduled. First Friday is a great opportunity to stroll around downtown Greensboro and see what’s going on.
