As everyone knows, dops and other pets absolutely loooooove dressing up in elaborate costumes and it is in no way a type of low-grade animal cruelty.  So, boy, will your pet be excited about what’s coming up.

Because Halloween isn’t just for humans anymore, and Guilford County Animal Services is inviting local dogs and their owners to get into the spooky spirit this weekend.

Guilford County Animal Services, in partnership with Greensboro Parks and Recreation, will host its sixth annual Howl-O-Ween celebration on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Country Park, 3905 Nathanael Greene Drive in Greensboro.

The event is free and open to the public – with multiple activities for pets and their owners.

The festivities will begin at Shelter Four in Country Park and will include a pet and owner costume contest, trick-or-treat stations with pet-safe treats, local food trucks, craft vendors and other activities.

Organizers are encouraging dog owners to get creative with their costumes, whether that means dressing their four-legged friends as superheroes, monsters, political leaders, pumpkins or something entirely unexpected.

Owners can join in the fun by dressing up themselves for the pet and owner costume contest.

County officials remind participants that dogs must remain on leashes and under their owners’ supervision throughout the event.  Sadly, cats aren’t mentioned in the county’s press release – however, since, cats and dogs are natural enemies, it probably makes sense not to have a big group of each in the same place.

Parking will be available at the Jaycee Park parking lot.
