Solid waste collection won’t take place on Tuesday, Jan. 27, because of continued icy conditions in parts of Greensboro.
According to the city, residents who normally receive trash pickup on Monday and Tuesday should place their carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28. Pickup will begin then.
Though officials say some areas may not be serviced until Thursday, January 29.
Residents are being told to leave carts at the curb until they are collected. The city says no fines will be issued for carts left out while residents wait for delayed pickup.
Bulk and yard waste collection has been suspended for the entire week.
City officials also announced that the White Street Landfill and Transfer Station will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The changes come as lingering ice continues to create hazardous conditions on some roads across the city.

Anyone receive trash pick up today, Wednesday-January 28, 2026? Respect same cancelled on Monday, then Tuesday, now when? Still waiting. I understand the city is on a snow schedule for most neighborhoods,” Spring”!
Who needs an excuse? Just suspend trash collection. Then more money to feather the nest.
(yes, I have nothing else to do today, except to wait for the snow to stop so I can start shoveling again).
