These days, there is way too much tragic news of shootings coming out of Greensboro and High Point, but there’s also been an unfortunate amount of gun violence taking place outside of Guilford County’s two largest cities.
This week was no exception as the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department reported a bizarre multiple shooting incident that’s still under investigation.
On Monday, Jan. 29, the department reported that, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, just after 9:30 a.m., deputies from the department responded to the area at and around 6612 Glenville Drive, Whitsett where automobiles, homes and people were shot up.
Deputies who arrived on the scene found Deborah Percell, a 70-year-old, at the Glenville Drive address. She had been shot, but fortunately, the wound turned out to be non-life-threatening.
Percell was taken to an unnamed local hospital, treated and later discharged.
According to the report from the Sheriff’s Department, “During the investigation, it was also discovered that 20-year-old Cameron Drake Booker had driven himself to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was later discharged.”
On Friday, Jan. 26, as a result of an investigation, Booker and 23-year-old Cedric Lee Jr. were both charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury as well as several counts of Discharging a Barreled Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling.
Both men were held on a $100,000 bond and remanded to the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro. The Sheriff’s Department reported that no further information regarding the incident will be made at this time.
The department also notes that the investigation remains ongoing, and officers are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective D. Duncan at 336-641-5968 or call Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
I wonder what race where the shooters? Yeah
Probably human. You’re welcome.
Dey dint doo nuffin!
Violence spreads faster than Covid. Ages 20 and 23, with illegal guns, imagine.
It is not gun violence, it is people violence. This could easily been a knife or tire tool, etc.
I’m pretty sure they are related to big city
You mean Little Portland?
