Downtown Greensboro Inc. is bringing beach music back to downtown Greensboro with the TowneBank Beach Music Festival beginning on Thursday, May 4.

The beach music festival began in 2003 as a fundraiser for the Children’s Home Society, but in 2020, due to COVID restrictions, the festival like nearly other event in the country took a break.

This year DGI is bringing the beach music festival back to downtown Greensboro with concerts on five Thursdays in May and June.

The five concerts, presented by Berico and Toyota of Greensboro, will be held at the First National Bank Field, the home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers, with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and the concerts beginning at 6 p.m.

The TowneBank Beach Music Festival schedule includes:

May 4 – The Tams

May 18 – The Catalinas

June 1 – The Band of Oz

June 15 – Part Time Party Time Band

June 29 – Chairman of the Board

General admission tickets are $15 per concert or tickets for entire festival are $50 and may be purchased in advance online at downtowngreensboro.org.  Children under 12 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.

Because the concerts are being held in the stadium, no coolers, pets or lawn chairs will be allowed, but blankets are fine.  Food and beverages will be for sale.  The stage will be on the field and people can sit on blankets on the field or in the regular stadium seating.

Scott Baker, president of TowneBank Triad, said in the press release, “We are excited to partner with the Downtown Greensboro, Inc. team to bring back the summer beach music festival.  The TowneBank Beach Music Festival will bring great energy to downtown Greensboro in an affordable, family-friendly manner. DGI continues to work hard to improve the downtown experience and we are privileged to participate. We look forward to enjoying these concerts with our community friends.”

Tom Berry, CEO, and Will Berry, president of Berico, said, “For almost 100 years Berico has enjoyed supporting our local community through our fuel, propane, HVAC services and our Gift of Warmth charity.  We are excited to continue this tradition by celebrating our 100th anniversary as a presenting sponsor of this year’s Beach Music Festival.”
