A letter from Rhino reader Deanna M. De’Liberto,
I was deeply saddened to read the article titled “2 National Guard Members Shot in D.C.” The news that two West Virginia National Guard members were critically wounded while serving our nation is both shocking and heartbreaking.
These brave men put themselves in harm’s way to protect others, and their dedication deserves our gratitude and respect. My thoughts and prayers are with them as they fight for their recovery, and with their families, who are facing unimaginable worry and fear. I am also thankful for the courage of those who responded immediately at the scene, risking their own safety to protect and assist.
This tragic incident reminds us of the sacrifices our service members make every day and the risks they bear to keep our communities safe. Violence like this has no place in our society. Let us honor these men and all who serve by expressing our support, offering prayers, and recognizing the selflessness and courage that uphold our nation.
