The following is a letter to the editor by Rhino Times reader Phil Byrd.
As I look at Danny Roger’s 6th Anniversary as Guilford County Sheriff, I see the same issues plaguing the Sheriff’s Office that affected the Sheriff’s Office after his 1st 90 days. Low morale, severe officer shortages, rampant employee turnover, wasteful spending, lack of transparency, failed hiring practices, and the list goes on.
Is Greensboro not better than this? Is this the best we can do. Roger’s lack of leadership ability and resource management skill have cost the taxpayers dearly.
I haven’t even scratched the surface on his failures to help reduce violent crime in Greensboro.
Having NO plan is a plan to fail. Rogers has done well in the category of failures.
We must come together for a safer Greensboro. Working in collaboration for the same objective. We work better and accomplish much more working together for the same cause.
We as citizens should have the same desire for our families- safe neighborhoods, schools, and being able to gather in public without the worry of being shot.
I am offering my leadership as your Sheriff. I will work for safer communities. I will work programs jointly and in collaboration with area agencies to resolve this continuous violence. We will work through these challenges with transparency and accountability.
Our change in the direction will not change on its own. We must decide and partnership to make Greensboro a better place to live.

TY for your Letter to the Editor. I would like to remind anyone running for Sheriff of Guilford County that the Sheriff serves ALL of Guilford County & not just Greensboro.
Ms. Adams you are correct. The County is being neglected. The sad thing is, the city voters have the density of votes that determines at large elections. The services a Sheriff provides is services that includes Cities as well the unincorporated parts of
Greensboro, High Point, and Gibsonville. This current Sheriff has no concern for unincorporated areas.
We have not had a SHERIFF. Just a person that runs around in 10 Gal. hats and bow ties trying to look like a cowboy. If he wants to be a cowboy let him go to TEXAS. I did not vote for him the first time and would not ever vote for him.
I don’t know much about the Sheriff’s Department, but I do know a preening peacock of a man when I see one.

Those who bothered to vote (16,000+?) are responsible; even more those uninformed and apathetic voters who didn’t bother to show up at the polls. Why do you think that at last November’s election, the City Council was not up for election?
Like everything that is wrong in this country, Guilford County is a microcosm. Idiot voters with no clue. No due diligence. Single shot voting for something that checks a box. You deserve what you get. The rest of the thinking world just have to suffer through your idiocy. Never, ever, overestimate the intelligence of the average American voter. Ever!
AMEN Tom, voters within Guilford County (yes, Greensboro tips the scales and the citizens of Greensboro are primarily responsible for this boondoggle).
A greater involvement of those who disagree with our Sheriff is the only answer.
Danny has been an embarrassment since day one; more concerned with his appearance than doing his job. I say lose this nincompoop now and don’t forget to wash your hands afterwards. I have had a disastrous personal experience with him and I can only say he sends his posse to do jobs which aren’t even warranted. Loser.
It is my understanding that Billy Queen will be running again for Sheriff. The county couldn’t do better than him. If he runs, I’m voting for him.

I voted for Phil Byrd in the last election because I recognized a QUALITY PERSON, AND an HONEST AND KNOWLEDGEABLE PROFESSIONAL.
All types of crime have increased under Danny Rogers. Phil Byrd will work 24/7/365 to make sure everyone can live in a safe county. He will support Deputy’s when they arrest criminals and will work with ICE and CBP to remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens from our county.
BTW, Illegal Aliens is the official and legal description authorized by the federal government and used in federal statutes to identify anyone who illegally enters our country. They are NOT migrants or undocumented people. They are ILLEGAL ALIENS.
You may also refer to Illegal Immigrants as Undocumented Democrats! I support DEI, Deport Every Illegal!
Me too. Did you see the recent study released by Lund University in Sweden that found almost two thirds of convicted rapists in Sweden (2000-2024) were immigrants or sons of immigrants?

At a time when Guilford County Crime, Aggravated Assaults, Murders, Illegal Gun Possession, Traffic Law Offenses, and Car Crashes are at an all-time high, Current Guilford County Sheriff Danny Rogers appears to be Missing In Action? Go back to work Danny and quit playing dress up! The best image the Guilford County Sheriff’s Dept. can reflect to the Citizens of Guilford County is effective law enforcement! It’s time for a change and Phil Byrd is the man for the job!
The current Sheriff is preening himself with his hats, smiles, etc. He’s an embarrassment to ethical law enforcement, but we’ll have to wait till the next election to get rid of him. . . .and his hat.

Mac, I heard that Billy Queen is going to run again and that is what Guilford County needs. He worked outside Guilford County but has been a long time resident of the County and has Experience and a Professional Resume, not another inside Deputy to be the same ole, same ole. Phil Byrd would be smart to jump on board with Billy, save his campaign money and defeat Rogers. I am sure Billy would put him in charge of an important Division, projects etc. I have also seen online where Billy Queen recently has spoken to several agencies and Law Enforcement groups.
Well no matter who gets elected (except the current Dope) I think it’s high time someone starts to investigate “certain people” who used to be state and county employees that are living way, way, way above their perceived legal means. They are so stupid they flaunt it right smack in the faces of the public just begging to be caught. But being friends with the current Sheriff keeps the hounds from their front door.
Phil Byrd has bailed. Republicans and Independents need to get behind and support William “Billy” Queen. Just Google and read about what he has done in his career. A career public servant. He is a Guilford County resident and wants the best for the County. A Professional Law Enforcement Officer who can make the Sheriff’s office respectable again with strong leadership.
William “Billy” Queen is the ONLY EXPERIENCED QUALIFIED candidate able to turn GUILFORD COUNTY’S SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT AROUND. !! He has a PROVEN SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP role in law enforcement overseeing hundreds of employees (unlike Phil Byrd who was never above a middle manager) and he knows Guilford county like the back of his hand having grown up here since 1950’s , when we all had respect for the law and a person was held responsible if they broke those laws, unlike Guilford county today where the offending criminal seems to have more rights than the citizen harmed.
Billy has been involved in law enforcement since returning home from honorably serving his country in the Army and has served Guilford county as a High Point Police officer then starting his career with the Border Patrol then advancing on to ATF and this past year being awarded the prestigious LEGACY award for his years of exceptional public service and his legendary life story and his history of fighting crimes within a notoriously violent motorcycle gang in California and his knowledge of gangland tactics to overtake communities, increasing drug trafficking, child trafficking and overall violent crimes against the citizens to gain the control for the gang.
William “Billy” Queen has the experience to be our GUILFORD COUNTY SHERIFF , he brings up to date experience in dealing with the influx of such illegal gangs as MS-13 and others that have in recent years flooded Guilford county, reaping violence on our citizens, raping our citizens and taking over neighborhoods with intimidation and violence.
Billy Queen is a world renowned expert on community gangland infiltration and violence and he brings unparalleled expertise to GUILFORD COUNTY in these times that Greensboro is facing daily violent crimes and shootings rivaling major metropolitan cities ! There are scores of experienced law enforcement officers with excellent records just waiting to be a part of William “Billy” Queen’s team here to MAKE GUILFORD COUNTY SAFE AGAIN .
We have NO TIME TO WASTE bc the last 6 years have been a total failure , many of the best sheriffs department employees fired or resigned, a hiring disaster because of the present ongoing situation of mediocre management and the failure to serve ALL OF GUILFORD COUNTY.
Do your own research and find out WHY BILLY QUEEN IS OUR BEST CHANCE TO TURN GUILFORD COUNTY AROUND AND MAKE OUR AREA SAFE AGAIN.
