Bringing A Gun To A Knife Fight
Dear Editor,
A recent action by the (National Socialist) Democrat party dictator, Skippy Alston, to select handpicked members of his horde of minions to sit on a school spending board without even one Republican is just another sign that Guilford County is in dire need of change in who runs the county.
This is not the first time this has been done and as long as the (National Socialist) Democrat party holds the reins it will continue. Our form of government is supposed to be a Representative Democracy, not a socialist collective.
How many times have we seen Skippy take power and begin bending to the state level power structure? If this were just Greensboro I honestly wouldn’t care, but his actions affect Pleasant Garden and other small towns in the county.
I know that there are people in the Republican Party that cringe when I talk like this, and to a small extent, I understand. But we are quickly approaching a point in the party where our party leaders need to lead, follow or get the hell out of the way.
I realize that statement upsets several people in the party who I consider my friends, and I don’t mean my comments in an ugly way. But we as a party are rapidly approaching a point where it’s time to fish or cut bait. We need to start playing by their rules until they cave and begin working for the people of the county, not themselves.
They bring a stick, we bring a knife. They bring a knife, we bring a gun. And when they finally figure out that we will de-escalate when they do, we can go back to good old fashion mudslinging politics.
The main thing the party needs to do is get back down to hard, bare-knuckled politics, meaning engaging our opponents in open honest debates with open and honest rules and doing your best to shake hands afterwards. And talk to the people, not special interests. And challenge the other side to do the same. Get sources for getting oour word out, not rely on the mainstream media to tell the truth.
I know I have upset friends in the county GOP with my words, but the truth hurts sometimes. If you can’t handle it, get out of politics and let fighters get in. And always carry a big stick and use it only when all else fails.
Alan Marshall
Alan Marshall – EXCELLENT COMMENTARY! The problem with the GOP (local all the way up to national) is that they play nice, which doesn’t work when playing against nasty demonrats.
As I said, bring a gun to a knife fight but don’t assume you will use it every time…just don’t let THEM know that.
So storming the Capitol with bear mace, sticks and other battering devises because you were upset your candidate lost is playing nice? How about the alt right propaganda that drives mass shooters to make racial assaults on grocery stores? How about all the messages between the ‘proud boys’ and ‘3 percenters’ that boasted about the need for democrats blood in the streets?
The modern republican party relies on hate and division. You only have to look at the words of Alan Marshall. He is an elected small town leader and he uses rhetoric of violent weapons to make his point. Pathetic and an embarrassment to Pleasant Garden.
Really Chris??? Really???
I mean, if you REALLY want to go there with your extreme examples of people that call for “…blood in the streets” then make sure, as much as you hate the idea of being equal and fair in your criticism of extremism, let’s talk about how BLM is attacking a woman for defending herself and her children from said BLM terrorists. Let’s talk about all those cowards that hide behind their black clothing while destroying private property, attacking people, and calling for the violent overthrow of our form of government.
It’s so funny how you take 99% of what I say as literal. Actually it’s pathetic.
As for “He is an elected small town leader and he uses rhetoric of violent weapons to make his point. Pathetic and an embarrassment to Pleasant Garden.”, that’s what elections are for. I’m starting my 12th and final year as “…an elected small town leader…”. What have you done for your community?
I work through my church to support my community with a food bank, financial counseling for those that are struggling as working poor, Treasurer of my Church and by being a good citizen.
Should you run again, I will campaign against you as a man who calls those that disagree with him as being unpatriotic, unamerican (National Socialist) Democrats, liberal whiners, environmentalist wackos, giant mice and others of their ilk etc… etc.. etc… etc…
It is the political mindset of people such as yourself that are ruining what was once a great political system that worked on compromise between the two parties but is now just party over people mentality that think of those that have differing opinions as the enemy.
Sure I post counter points and make fun of folks along the way (anti science nutters for example) but I am not in public office and nor do I make public policy. You and Mark are political hacks that play to peoples emotions versus actually showing compassion for all…even those you disagree with…. I stand by my words about the two of you and will offer my counter points every time you try to promote Mark for further office.
He’s not the only one chris
No, it is the Democratic Party that relies on sowing hatred and division. They create resentment and division based on income, class, race, and sex. They gain power through factionalism and their M.O. is Divide and Conquer.
They are utterly despicable. And fundamentally evil.
Of course Austin’s only defense of the Republican party is to deflect by pointing to the Democrats. I am independent politically so that doesn’t work. Keep you head in the sand about the hate spewing from the modern republican party….or is it because you agree with their hate…hmmmm?
Chris (who falsifies evidence) is confused, as usual.
* My comment does not defend the Republican Party, it attacks the Democratic party.
** If Chris is independent politically, I am James Bond.
*** Bigots often like to accuse others of bigotry – without a shred of evidence – because it
makes them feel better about their own prejudices and biases. Psychologists call this
projection. Chris (who falsifies evidence) is a perfect example of this.
**** As Democrats spew hatred at Justice Clarence Thomas, Donald Trump, Pro-Life protesters, white people, and parents of schoolchildren, so they accuse the GOP of “hate” (the correct word is of course, hatred, but Leftists are generally not very bright). This is another example of projection.
Let’s say a prayer for Chris (who falsifies evidence).
Again, Austin doubles down on deflection. Not much depth to him I suppose.
You really don’t have anything, do you?
Why don’t you run, Alan?
I’m currently serving on the Pleasant Garden Town Council, but would certainly seriously consider it.
Alan ,spot on. Skip and earl jones are racist bums. GOD will have the final say.
Thank you Will.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “racist bums”, but you’re right, GOD will have the final say… on us all.
Alan, You are right on the mark with your comments. Without voters and education of voters then it is a moot point. As evident by the tax increases just administered by the city & county, most tax payers do not have a clue why their taxes increased and in many cases do not know that they did increase. At a recent forum one of the sitting council members stated that she was doing all she could to reduce taxes, in reality our taxes where increased but in her mind she did reduce taxes from the revaluation rate. The liberal Woke Socialists will continue until the rest of us stand up and say ENOUGH and go to the polls and send them packing.
Thanks Alan. Excellent explanation !
There is nothing open or honest about the Republican party or the democratic party. Just more party before people politics. Leadership is a person who will make hard decisions versus popular decisions. Party politics no longer allows that kind of leader to be successful. THAT is why a guy like Skip has been in power for so long in Guilford County.
Don’t bring a knife or a gun….bring a real Leader to the table who leads based on facts versus emotions and only cares about the greater good versus what’s only good for the party.
I had to step back and re-read the fist sentence and realized this could be a sign of the apocalypse because Chris said something with some modicum of sense pointing out how BOTH parties have people that look more to politics then what is best for We the People.
“Party politics no longer allows that kind of leader to be successful”…WRONG, but thank you for playing.
“THAT is why a guy like Skip has been in power for so long in Guilford County.”…WRONG but again thank you for playing. Skippy has been in power for so long because he knows how to play the game, who to glad-hand, but most important, how to stick it to you and make you say “Thanks” while he’s doing it.
In other words, how to be a “professional politician.”
Party politics don’t mean squat to an individual who is willing to tell BOTH sides “my job is to represent THE PEOPLE, not the party!
Not surprised you don’t get the point….real leadership has never stepped up to replace Skip. I highly doubt you would know what real leadership requires given your hateful devise rhetoric you use when discussing democrats. The issue is even worse in federal government. I choices the last few Presidential elections have been a Failed Business Man, Lying Hateful Woman, and a grinning idiot.
For Mayor we came close when Hammer was going to win a write-in campaign but dropped out because he couldn’t afford the pay cut. Maybe next time.
Doggone Chris,
You got me with your “I highly doubt you would know what real leadership requires…” comment.
If only I were an experienced combat leader who’s been there and done that like you appear to attempt to project…oh wait… I AM an experienced combat leader with over 20 years of experiance.
And your leadership experience and background is?
(Final Jeopardy playing)…thought so, but thank you for playing.
Trump was leader of the free world and wouldn’t know real leadership if it smacked him in the face. Why would you be any different? Your words speak loudly about your support for only those that fit your picture of ‘patriot’ or American.
You recently used the phrase “God help and guide the true American people” as if those that disagree with you are not True American people. That is a trope of many bigoted and racist leaders from our past and when you used it, I lost any respect for you as a leader in our community.
I continue to stand by my criticism of you and your support of Mark.
Trump was a superb leader of the Free World. Not a single foreign tyrant dared to make a move while he was President. He also presciently warned Europe about their dependence on Russian oil & gas. They laughed at him. They’re not laughing now.
He also brought us prosperity, historic low unemployment, zero inflation, and global peace. Now THAT’S a leader.

Sorry for the duplication; I must have hit “send” twice.
Alan, how do you represent the people that believe women have a right to abortion and equal sexual reproductive healthcare to men? Or do those women not exist in your small town?
How do you represent the people that didn’t vote for you? I’ll save you time – Alan represents the people that they disagree with by (almost daily) screaming on a poorly managed and circulated online newspaper filled with a right-wing echo chambers that then end is nigh, name calling those that disagree with them, and threatening to escalate to no end because their only tactic is stoking fear.
They are old news. And soon enough, we’ll be in another news cycle. Soon enough Alan will be gone and the world will be a better place.
