The Carroll Companies on Monday, Nov. 1 announced the addition of Carroll Hospitality to its growing family of companies, which includes the Rhino Times.

Carroll Hospitality will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hyatt Place Greensboro Downtown owned by The Carroll Companies.

Since it opened in March 2019, the Hyatt Place has been managed by a third-party management company.  Carroll Hospitality took over that management on Monday, Nov. 1.

Carroll Hospitality will be retaining a majority of the employees currently at the Hyatt Place, while actively recruiting new employees. For job openings, please visit thecarrollcompanies.com/join-our-team/.

Despite issues caused by the pandemic, the Hyatt Place has hosted over 82,000 overnight guests since it opened for business, including those visiting Greensboro for business meetings, weddings and sporting events.

Madison Carroll Snyder, chief of staff and director of hotel operations at The Carroll Companies, said, “Our third-party management company did a great job of both running the hotel and teaching us as new hotel owners how the industry works. Our decision to self-manage was entirely based on location. We feel that we know Greensboro better than an out-of-state company, and we want to use that expertise to make this property achieve its full potential in our hometown.”

In 1999, Roy Carroll, the president and owner of The Carroll Companies, formed R.E. Carroll Management to oversee the management of his apartment communities. Today, Carroll manages over $4 billion in assets that The Carroll Companies own without outside partners or equity.

The Hyatt Place is the first hotel that The Carroll Companies has developed, but there are two other hotel projects in the pipeline.

Across the intersection from the Hyatt Place, Carroll is set to build an AC Hotel by Marriott, with sitework slated to begin in early 2022, as part of the Carroll Ballpark South mixed-use development.

The Avenue, a mixed-use project Carroll is developing in Wilmington, North Carolina, will feature a Westin hotel with over 200 guest rooms, suites, a conference center and a spa.

With two hotels already in the pipeline, Carroll is studying the development of three additional hotel projects.
