President Dismantling What Makes America Great
Dear Editor,
Major foreign powers around the world, some of whom have a long standing hate for us, are watching this country. Specifically they are watching the actions and listening to the words of the man that unfortunately is the current leader (in name only) of this country as he has been systematically dismantling everything that has made America the place people desire to live. A country where an unknown number of patriots have made the ultimate sacrifice to secure our right to live free.
Since the early ’70s we have had the unique creature of a purely voluntary military. Everyone there is there because they want to be. I, like many others, did it for 20 years and have no regrets. But now the Biden regime is using the panic of COVID-19 to begin to gut the one thing standing between us and the enemies at the gate. He, through his lackeys, has begun forcing out unvaccinated people that have tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of the lack of hard scientific proof that such actions are necessary. From the Washington Post, “The Oklahoma National Guard’s commanding general Wednesday defended his directive countermanding federal requirements that all U.S. military personnel be vaccinated against the coronavirus, telling troops in a private town hall event that he was following orders from the state’s Republican governor and meant no disrespect to his superiors at the Pentagon.”
Things are really starting to get interesting.
On another front, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson continues to not only bravely stand his ground on positions he believes in and makes that position known, he jumps right back when attacked in snarky and condescending ways by other politicians. For example, from the social media page of Deb Butler, a Democrat from the NC State House District 18: “When you know you are a fraud, you sweat like a pig. I ain’t never had to give a speech holding a sweat rag.”
We know if roles were reversed, Democrat/liberals would be rabidly screaming for Mark’s head, but because of the “D” in her title she will not only be given a pass for the implied racist portion of her statement, it’ll be defended by her supporters.
I don’t want to fear monger, but I believe the next two election cycles, off presidential and presidential, will determine the future and fate of this great country.

The military has used vaccine mandates throughout it’s entire history. The risk of losing men to sickness can be catastrophic to military planning. This was best illustrated by the incident on the US aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt where Anti-Science leaders such as Trump’s Sec of Navy wanted to leave men at sea to become ill in order to protect an ignorant idealism that Covid was no big deal. Since the military trains great leaders, the captain of that ship, Bradley Martin, put his sailors well being over his own career. A true hero! Unlike leaders such as Robinson and Alan. If you can call Alan or Robinson a leader at all.

Alan, there is nothing unique about an all volunteer military. All European countries that I know of have all volunteer armed forces. My uncle was drafted for National Service, and was sent to Kenya… but that was a long time ago (1950’s)
But Mark Robinson is indeed an excellent fellow. I have contributed to his “Friends of Mark Robinson”, and i suggest you do too.
A quick internet search reveals that statement as false, Austin. Most of the Scandanvian countries, as well as Germany, Isreal, Austria. Switzerland, Lithuania, etc all have mandatory service.
Don, thank you for your support. I wold not call Austin’s comment “false” but would call it incorrect as shown by your examples. There are very few (mostly 1st world) countries that do not have an all volunteer military force. Most have a a requirement for registration for military service IF such a need were to arise.
Your letter clearly claims that “Since the early ’70’s we have had the unique creature of a purely voluntary military”. That statement is false. Dozens of countries have a purely voluntary military.
I generally like the sentiments you express here Alan, but I cannot abide obviously incorrect assertions and sloppy reasoning. When we do that we are just gifting the Left with ammunition. Let’s not do that.

Actual facts mean little to the left.
The actual fact is that most European countries have an all volunteer military.
“All European countries THAT I KNOW OF have all volunteer armed forces”. True or false?
I know that these European countries have all volunteer forces: The United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. I have also just learned that 21 of the 27 EU nations have abolished the draft. So my statement is true.
And it may be news to you Don, but Israel is not a European country.
And it’s spelled I-S-R-A-E-L.
Today is Pearl Harbor day. My dad joined the USMC in Dec, 1941. When he returned, he never spoke of it. He died young, and unhappy.
Outstanding letter Alan!!! The absence of the draft was in my opinion, a vast improvement in procurement of a more qualified, diverse, and mission focused fighting force. Our Military has a big role in Americas exceptionalism and I am greatly saddened by the destruction being wrought from within the ranks by some of the highest ranking, longest serving Officers. Joe Biden has sold his soul to the Communist Chinese Party, our European Alliances to Russian Communists, and our Sovreignty to the criminal Cartels of Mexico. In the whole scheme of things, we are only here for a little while and with what time is left, we can either get busy living or get busy dying and I’m not prepared for the latter. Come on 2022 and 2024!
