Guilford County Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen can tell you the aggravation you go through when your car is stolen, and now more and more people in Guilford County are learning what it’s like to have your car robbed rather than stolen.
At least your car is still there, but your window is smashed and your valuables are gone.
This week, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department announced what it is calling a “spree” of car break-ins and is asking for the public’s help in nabbing the bad guy.
The department sent out a press release requesting information that may help identify a subject that’s been linked to multiple car break-ins in the county and the region.
On June 20, according to the department, multiple victims reported their vehicle windows smashed and purses stolen at Haw River State Park along 339 Conference Center Drive in Brown Summit.
The suspect appears to be a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, perhaps between 18 and 30 years old, with a height in the 5’7” to 5’10” range. The man weighs about 165-180 pounds and has a “distinct ‘bow-legged’ gait when he walks.”
Fortunately for identification purposes, he also has multiple distinct tattoos on his right arm that include:
- A grim reaper on his outer right forearm
- An unknown figure on his inner right forearm
- The letters “SA” or “Sp” on his inner right wrist, followed by other unidentified markings.
He was last seen driving a newer model white Chevrolet Malibu with dark tinted windows that had either a dark license plate cover or no tag at all.
