I was at my job at Gate City Boulevard on hurricane Thursday. A little bit after lunch, the Rhino Times delivery guy came and cleaned up the area, got rid of the old ones, replaced the new issues. He noticed me, came over. Give me a magazine. Smiled. Wished me a good day and walked outside into the hurricane. I just wish that the politicians, pro and con in your magazine, had the same work ethic, same courtesy. He was a gentleman. He’s got my vote. He enjoys his job, and he does it well.

I am enjoying reading Orson Scott Card’s list of perfect films of all time. I’d like to add for his consideration five movies that were not including on his list. The first one would be The Quiet Man from 1952 with John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Barry Fitzgerald, Ward Bond and Victor McLaglen. John Ford won a best director Oscar for this movie. The second movie I would like Mr. Card to consider would be The General from 1926 with Buster Keaton and Marian Mack. This showed off Buster Keaton’s outstanding comic ability and his extremely good athletic and gymnastic abilities as well. The third movie for Mr. Card’s consideration would be Wings from 1927 with Clara Bow and a very young Gary Cooper.

The lady that cornered him earned $178,071 in 2016 working for George Soros. That’s an outrageous salary to pay a hoodlum and somebody to go out here and destroy our country and our way of life. How many more of these people are paid? Many, many of those people are paid. Coe Pink brags about how that lady was paid on Fox News the other night. Good Friday morning. I know I’m going to be in the minority on this. Often am. But I do not understand why the school is out for two consecutive days for wind and rain. I understand there’s some inherent risk with these kids being on the road, on buses, going to school, but I can assure you there are far more people who got up on Thursday morning and this morning and went to work as opposed to the number of kids and teachers that are staying home because of wind and rain. Yes, the wind yesterday was pretty bad. It was pretty bad. And there are a lot of trees down. And I know we’re without power in certain parts of the city. But the next thing you know, they’re going to be, you know, I’m just a realist. And I just – I just don’t get it.

We didn’t get to the library yesterday to pick up yesterday’s Rhino Times, but I’m very concerned that hardly anybody is addressing the proposed amendments to the North Carolina Constitution. Of course, the Democrats are running constant ads saying vote against them. They’re very carefully worded to sound like they mean vote against all six of them. Then they say all former governors have endorsed voting against these amendments, which was my first clue. You know that Pat McCrory did not tell you to vote against Voter ID. So, when you look more carefully into it, it’s only two having to do with legislature and judicial system that they’re actually talking about. But they are very carefully sounding like they want you to vote against all amendments.

  1. This is my second call this week. Another annoying thing for me. I’m finding it more and more annoying when I go to check out at some retail store, and I’m using my credit card, I get asked a question, do you want to donate a dollar to, you know, feed the hungry, and who knows where. No, I don’t. You know, wherever they are, somebody needs to get a job and take care of that. So, any retail merchants that might be reading the Rhino Times, please, convey back to these credit card companies that we, the customers, do not want to be annoyed with this. If I want to give money to something, I’m going to give it to my church. My church already does plenty of work in the community to help the homeless and to help the needy. Taxicab driver does nothing but drives a car. With cars driving itself, you jump in it, you type in your destination on your Google map, hit enter, you swipe your credit card, guess what?
