Hi, Beep. Just reading your Sept. 28 edition. And Scott Yost’s column just cracked me up. I just think he’s a funny, funny guy. But, listen, I’m not going to save any money for tickets for your dining. It’s a wonderful idea. Thank you for the laughs. Bye-bye.

Old Man Rockingham here. I’m watching the news again. Don’t know why. But they’re talking about all these football players, and I guess they’ve got no backbone or something. They got to take a knee during the national anthem. And all these commentators are saying that Trump is just being a bully on them by talking mean to them. Well, on Facebook when they put something up there about it, all I saw were hundreds of people telling these big babies to shut up and stand up. If they think their feelings got hurt or something, why don’t they go to a VA hospital and tell those people there how their feelings are just getting stomped on? Yeah, I’m pretty sure there won’t be a dry eye in the house.

Hey, editor, do you still love our liar, embarrassment, arrogant, crotch-grabbing president who just called hundreds of US citizens sons of bitches?

John, on your recent slam on the convention of states, please look at this again. Since the country’s founding, it has been tried over 400 times. A few are still in the works today. Only one got close for convention to change the voting age, but the feds jumped in and passed the law first so as not to make public the fact that the COS can make law. The founders did see a day when the feds would get completely out of control and added Article IV in the Constitution as a vehicle for the states to resume power and correct the abuse. The recent one that almost passed North Carolina calls for a state convention with only three items to be considered. Each state gets one vote, and DC has zero input. It appears that we’re giving Republicans complete control is not going to work. So the COS seems to be our one and last hope. Everyone needs to go online and sign the petition. Does anyone have a better idea?

After reading the comment in the Rhino regarding the wasteful spending from the school system, my thoughts did not need a chief of staff until Mo Green arrived; 150K plus next four or five regional superintendents. Same price, plus offices and support staff, etc. Now, they have lots more money because of the commissioners. And this year four or five regionals are now 12. Where does it all end? Let’s have teachers instead. Besides this, athletes have to pay to play. First time ever. Bye.

What all the young people are seeing right now is the changing of history from taking down our statues to dishonoring our anthem, and it’s just a terrible offense against all of the people who gave their lives for this country.

Here’s an idea. Why doesn’t the NFL and the NBA tell all their players if they want to squat for the anthem, why don’t they just fine them $25,000 a pop and let them do it all they want? Then have them make the check to a charity of their choice. What do you think?

I’m calling about the Greensboro City Council campaign. I would like to just ask all the residents of Greensboro, North Carolina, why would you go and vote for these city councilmembers that have been up there for at least – some of them have been up there at least four years if not longer. Why would you vote for them to be back in office again when they’ve done nothing for North Carolina at all but raise our taxes, give millions of dollars to the civil rights museum and they have brought no jobs in? They have done nothing for the North Carolina residents here. They are awful themselves. They have lined their pockets with money. They are trying to bring back the town downtown. They’ve done nothing but ridiculously spend our money. Look what they’re doing to the Greensboro Police Department. They’re handcuffing them so that they won’t arrest nobody.

North Carolina will never get the Amazon headquarters here for two reasons. One, the state is perceived as being homophobic due to HB2. And, two, the state is perceived to be racist due to all the controversy about taking down the Confederate War statues. The state appears – in general, the state appears to be backward to the rest of the country. This is very sad.

Please join me in my boycott of the NFL. Please do not buy the products that are advertised during the commercials. That is where the money comes from to pay the players these ridiculous salaries. When the money dries up, their salaries will also dry up. Maybe then they’ll have respect for the United States of America. Please, join me in my boycott. I totally refuse to watch an NFL game, and I will avoid buying any product that’s advertised during the commercials during an NFL game. The sponsors of the products actually pay the networks billions of dollars. The networks then pay the team owners. The team owners then pay the players.

Maybe the NFL should hire Russians to play football because they won’t say anything to them. And son-in-law and daughter doing the same thing with the emails that they was screaming to lock her up, lock her up, Hillary Clinton. They’re doing the same thing with the secret emails.

I called in regard to what’s going on in the NFL. Every one of these pathetic-looking childish overpaid millionaire football players should be made to sit down and watch what I’m watching right now. It’s D-Day to Victory on American History Channel, and you’ll see what our men and women done for this country. Any military show, you’ll see what our men and women done for this country while you bunch of crybabies have been pampered ever since you could learn how to kick or throw a football. All through college, high school, you were pampered. All this stuff about woe is me don’t get it with me and most of America. We’re sick and tired of watching you whiney crybaby millionaires who can have anything in this world that you want thanks to the fact that you even live in this wonderful country, and your life has been that way by the military heroes that went before you. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

I’ve called in several times in reference to damages to vehicles, rowdy juveniles, thefts, general havoc they make in the 1300 block of Elwell. Well, I don’t know if you’ve heard of a broken window concept. But when no action is taken on small crimes, it escalates into big crimes. We’ve now had several gunshots fired in the 1200 block of Elwell. Police say it’s not an isolated incident. So they know who it is. We’ve had so much trouble in that area, and nothing has been done. They have motorcycles come through right up the sidewalks almost hitting small children and been advised by the police it’s against their policy to pursue motorcyclists because of the liability issue. It goes to show you what small things go, big things evolve.

Well, our greedy, money mongering, your president. I didn’t vote for him. Not my president. And all the republicons. TV talks about he’s going to go down to help US Puerto Rico a week from now. It’s on the news. FEMA won’t let anybody follow them around to see them actually give stuff to people. They’re elderly people that have been without food, water and medications, including oxygen, for two days. I used to have some respect for this paper. But after reading all the pro-Trump stuff, you all are so stupid you still support that man. It’s that simple. So I’m not reading your trash anymore, and I’m going to encourage my friends not to.

Oops, I cut myself off by mistake. Institutionalized victimhood is sort of what Al Sharpton specializes in. But the thing is, it’s contrary to what America is and what it’s founded upon. Ours is a meritocracy. You know, you achieve, and you grow, and you succeed by your bootstraps. And, you know, that is what the country is about. For someone, even former President Obama, to use victimhood as a political tool, you can always see the appeal of the underdog in bringing people together in common hardship. That is a political identity, you know, concept. But the Democrats have taken that, and it is now their mantra. Believe me, the civil rights never intended to enshrine second-class status to citizens. It was supposed to elevate people and make the greater human condition.

The multimillionaire athletes who do not want to stand, place their hand over the heart for the national anthem, is really appalling. The lack of patriotism is disgusting. Sports should be the one thing that can bring us all together, exclusive of any other concern other than the game at hand. An arena, without politics. Of course, don’t tell that to ESPN. Their house of cards is falling because they are political. But these athletes, I can’t watch them. They don’t love America.   You stand for that national anthem. You put your hand on your heart. And you respect the flag. And you respect the sacrifices that that flag represents – the freedoms, the Constitution, the rights enshrined in that flag.

The way to get to the NFL and the networks about these unpatriotic displays during our national anthem is to let the advertisers know what you think. As long as the networks get the ratings they want, they don’t care about complaints. I can’t mention the name, but my insurance company has offices all over the nation. My local agent has no answer for my questions. So I phoned their national office to let them know if they continue to advertise NFL games, I will cancel all three of my policies as they come due.

Yes, I read your letter about the Electoral College versus the popular vote. Mrs. Clinton makes the statement, of course, the she won the popular vote. But the entire plurality that she enjoyed was from the state of Mexifornia, which might as well secede from the union. Would you want to be ruled by Mexifornia?

People are complaining about two much politics in sports. I’m complaining about too much sports. Too much time, energy and money are spent on sports. We are losing another spot on the radio dial, Winston-Salem WSJS AM 600 to all sports. Gone are the programs of local and varied interests. They said it’s what the people want. I don’t. I’m sure there’s a lot of money in it also. Turn across your radio dial, especially AM, and hear how many strong broadcasting signals are talking sports all the time. How sad.

Yeah, I’d just like to weigh on this football deal where the sorry millionaires all out there kneeling down. None of them know what the United States went through back during World War II. I was a young’un, but I remember the having the ration stamps to have to buy something with. You couldn’t buy tires because they were needed elsewhere. You had scrap drives. And these people making all this money, acting like a bunch of fools, and the owners. I think Jerry, whatever his name is, he is foolish to uphold it. And the people going to the games after this, they’re not real Americans either. If they were, they would quit going to the football games if not three or four games. Let them people know that there is more to this country than football and their bunch of foolishness. I appreciate what my ancestors done fighting the war, and everybody else should, too, or we would be speaking German and Japanese.

Hello, Rhino Times and the Rhino nation. This is just a thinking person. Haven’t spoken to y’all in a while. I’ve been very, very ill. But, thank God, I can make this call. I was just watching the evening news on Wednesday night, and I just got to thinking. You know, it seems like the billionaires, Facebook, Donald Trump, a couple of others, they have their little scrimmages. This one is wrong. That one is wrong. Blah, blah. So much problems in this nation. And it seems to me it’s just like the old movie – and I think it was a book – All the President’s Men. And the main contention was, follow the money.

Hello, Rhino Times and Rhino nation. I just want to pass along an experience I just had. I had received a bogus phone call. The area code on it was 202. I did call the High Point police. They are aware of it. The lady asked me some very good questions as to did I give any information, you know, address, any kind. They didn’t ask for money. But I’ve heard on the news before. The IRS will not call you on the telephone. So I’m spreading this for people that could be susceptible to this kind of a scam. If you do get it, this was an automated call. Give them zero, no information. I would recommend, as did the dispatcher, do not call it back to try and check it down.

I’m calling about Michelle Obama coming out and saying that the reason that Hillary lost was because women that voted for Trump didn’t listen to their own voice. I would like to say this to her. You know, women did listen to their own voices. They don’t like Hillary Clinton. And, you know, the only thing you did, Michelle Obama, while you were in office up there for eight years, was mess up our food. You know, in the cafeterias, children don’t like the food that you provided for them. And not only that, you put all these calories on the billboards of McDonald’s, and all these other places. And, you know, you just really messed up the whole entire food system. Not only that, I’d like to tell you this. You don’t know what’s in women’s hearts or in their minds. I mean, what are you, a mind reader? You know? And I’d like to tell you also, too, that you were the worse first lady that we ever had.

You know what I hate about October? You’ve got too many things going on this month. You’ve got the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem. You’ve got the furniture market going on in High Point. You’ve got Halloween coming up. You know? It’s like every week in October you take your kids and rush to one thing, or another thing, or another thing, another thing. Then they talk about, well, the amount of people that came to the market was down. The people that came to the fair is down. Maybe if they would set those things out and have them at different times of the month. They need to move the market up like it used to be where it’s actually either in November or September. And, then, maybe the same thing with the fair. Maybe have it in July or August or September. Space everything out.

Hello. Welcome to North Carolina. If you’re injured on the job, it wasn’t your fault, don’t be thinking you’re going to be getting a big compensation check because I just went through this. I was out of work several months. Had surgery. It was not my fault. I did not cause the accident. And all when all is done, I got an attorney, and I was advised the only thing I got was I got 10 percent disability because of the accident and the surgery. Since I still had my job, even though I can’t do my regular job no more, I’m not entitled to pain and suffering. You can’t get that in North Carolina. So, anybody that’s injured, has an accident, be sure and ask some questions because you give up that little bit 25 percent that you’re going to give to the lawyer, because you’re not going to get no pain and suffering.

So, you fools believe that the Confederate flag is going to be removed from an old Matlock TV show, or that they’re going to cancel the show because there is a Confederate flag in it? The Confederate flag is something that the government can’t sponsor. The government can’t have hanging in public places. That’s it. It can be anywhere else you want it except in front of a courthouse, or another government or public building. Can y’all get that straight in your heads so that you don’t have to call in and complain about it every time you see one somewhere? I saw a Confederate flag flying in the back of somebody’s pickup truck the other day. No one is going to come and take that away from him. No one is going to stop him and make him stop flying that flag. You can fly a flag anywhere you want if you are brave enough to do it.

I hear a lot of times people defending the Confederate battle flag by saying that it’s heritage, not hate. Let’s think about that word heritage for a minute and exactly what it means. It means handed down from the past, a tradition. The heritage of the Confederate battle flag is that of bigotry and hatred. There is no other way to put it. You can try to spin it anyway you want, but that is what it represents to many of the people that were slaves, or whatever they may have been under that flag. That’s what it represents to them and their family, not anything good. So go ahead and spin it however you want. It’s bigotry and hatred. That’s what it represents.

I just saw on Fox News they showed what ABC, CBS, CNN said that Trump absolutely is not doing enough in Puerto Rico. What they should do is each one of them people, these TV people, should send people down to Puerto Rico to show them what to do since they know so much. I’ve never seen broadcast people try to destroy the president of the United States as much as they have Trump. If they think that this is going to get the Democrats elected, they’ve got another though a coming. That will not get them in. Kicking your opponent will not get them in. Looks like they would know that. They tried to put him down when he was running. It didn’t work, and it won’t work now.
