I got a laugh out of the lead Sound of the Beep call from this past week. Caller said unless you were an American Indian you were an immigrant. I really don’t know how he figures that. I’m indigenous, like 85 percent of the people in our nation today. I was born here. Now if he’s going to argue that I’m an immigrant, because my ancestors immigrated here 300 years ago, well, let’s include the American Indians in that. They didn’t just originate here. They came here from elsewhere, too. Therefore, everybody, including the American Indians, are immigrants. But back to the point, as the editor says, nobody is against immigration. They’re against illegal immigration, and that’s not the same thing.

Just sitting here watching the news tonight with Roy Cooper on there crying about House Bill 2. The taxpayers of North Carolina are not interested in doing away with House Bill 2. HB2 was put in place to protect our families, our children and our grandchildren. And whatever you’re crying about, Roy, I hope that the Republicans stand firm and don’t allow you to destroy that bill. We don’t care about Carolina and Duke having to play in another city. If these fools in the ACC are foolish enough to move that games on account of such as that, then what happened out there during the Super Bowl? They had a stricter HB2 bill than we did. But, yet, they played the game out there, didn’t they? This is something Roy and that fool down in Charlotte cooked up, that mayor down there and Roy cooked up to get him elected, and we don’t take kindly to his interfering in our family’s safety.

Hello. As is my custom, I was reading the Rhino Times from front to back, Thursday, March 16 issue. And even though I don’t have a kid in school right now, and education is not my first concern, but certainly a concern. I saw where the Say Yes movement was earmarked both in the Rhino Shorts and, as you continue on through the paper, Scott Yost wrote his entire column on the Say Yes. And I’d had enough. I’d seen the issue at stake, and I just flipped to the back. I wanted to see the cartoon Geof Brooks had written depicting this issue and the problems facing it, and there was no cartoon. And, then, I remembered. I realized Geof is coaching Little League Baseball and drawing cartoons in a better place. So I was saddened. We certainly don’t want Geof to be forgotten. So I thought I’d call and mention my friend Geof.

I’m a former immigration specialist with 15 years’ work experience overseas and embassy work. Let me read you one headline. This is from Reuters, from the New York Post, quote, Canada officials detain record numbers of Mexicans? End quote. And Canada’s border authorities detain more Mexicans in the first 67 days of 2017 than they did annually in any of the three previous years according to statistics obtained by Reuters. Well, as I used to tell my colleagues in the Canadian embassy in China, just be glad that we, and America, are between you and Mexico.

According to Newsmax on March 18, nearly 350,000 service workers across the country plan to wage a strike on May 1, the traditional worldwide labor activism day. So, on May 1, 350,000 workers in America are going to strike. This is May Day. This is the communist and socialist annual day of commie celebration. Well, I expect on May 2 that every good capitalist issue their share of pink slips so that on May 2, we have 350,000 commies out of work.

You know it’s amazing how two-faced politicians really are. Nancy Pelosi out there wanting to immediately read what’s in the new healthcare bill. When Barack Obama put his health bill out, you got to sign it first before you can read. Why kind of mess is that? I mean, did they really think we’re that stupid? I wouldn’t vote for a Democrat if they were the last person on the ballot. Good day.

I just want to share something that’s been on my mind. It took me a while to admit this, but I need to tell you that I don’t believe anything President Trump says anymore. Whether you liked Obama or didn’t, at least you knew he was telling the truth. With Trump, you don’t have a clue. Thanks for listening.

I appreciate your editor’s note to my post. You replied that most people support immigration but not illegal immigration. I hope so. But most of the anti-immigration comments in this column don’t draw that distinction. Mr. Trump’s first travel ban on immigrants was a blanket ban and didn’t draw any difference between legal or illegal either. He only changed it to allow immigrants with green cards or work visas when the courts made him. To my original point, if we stop all immigration and deport all immigrants, we might deport the immigrant that creates somebody’s job. If someone thinks that’s what we should do, they ought to reconsider whether it’s a beneficial policy or not.

Logical Dan here. This is concerning the TV commercial for the car company bragging about their award from J.D. Power & Associates. The award is for highest initial quality. What does that even mean? I take that to mean that after a few days of owning one of those cars, it becomes painfully obvious that the quality really stinks.

Shout out to Steely Dan Fan Man. Hang on, brother. What’s really teasing me these days is just neighbors and stuff. It’s nothing nationally or countywide. But megasite mess over here, down here in Randolph County, with Guilford County sticking their fingers in it. Other than that, everything’s all right.

Yes, Mr. Hammer. I just wonder maybe you could help me with what is wrong with Sen. John McCain. He’s supposed to be Republican. He constantly keeps popping up on national shows, downgrading President Trump. What is wrong with McCain? Has he just gotten old? Has he hung out too long in the Senate gym and parties with Schumer and the gang? If he’s a Republican, he should act like one, support Trump or just go home to Arizona or wherever he lives. Maybe you can help us understand what has gone on with Sen. McCain. There’s something wrong there. Thanks.

Yes, last week I made a call to The Sound of the Beep regarding these Jordan Lake Rules. And the editor put a footnote below my phone call asking why if these rules are so important they’re not statewide. I’d like to explain that. Actually, there are statewide watershed regulations. But certain counties, because of the damage they do to the water supply, have special state regulations. The two counties that the editor mentioned feed the tributaries, specifically the Haw River, to Jordan Lake, which is the most-polluted water supply source in the State of North Carolina currently. Therefore, special stipulations have been put into those two counties to do their best to try to clean up the water source. Counties which aren’t polluting at the same rate, or at the same amount, are not under those same regulations.

I believe you’re right about Elon. I’ve been following their polling for many years. And I don’t think they’ve ever gotten one right. And High Point is starting to fall into that same category, High Point University, which is called Nido university now. I believe we’ll wind up with all these liberal schools, all these polling, with the left. I hadn’t seen one poll ever out of a liberal school, or any school around here, that was for the conservatives, not the first one. And I’ve been following these polls for quite a while. And this is Moses in High Point, and I want to thank you for all the work you do, John. God bless you, brother. Bye.

Don’t you just love it when Neill McNeill, the most smug newsreader in the triad, repeats a word from his teleprompter for his own emphasis? So it is earthshattering that some members of the GOP in Raleigh “refused … refused, to vote to repeal HB2.” I doubt that the copywriter included the word “refused” twice. But poor Neill was so appalled that he just had to repeat it. When did the self-satisfied newsreader secure the right to insert his own opinion into the news? Just sign me off as An Independent Thinker.

I am a little bit annoyed with the whole resist thing. I can understand that Democrats dislike Trump, and I can understand that they dislike his personal character and all that sort of thing, which is perfectly justifiable. However, we’re a democratic country. They don’t need to really resist. They don’t need to use the Princess Leia imagery that they’ve been using simply because we are a democratic country. And, so, we should all resist through the typical legislative process. It’s kind of unnecessary to organize formal resistance in my opinion. It seems like they would be so much more productive actually working directly with Trump, or trying to influence his policy, rather than actually trying to resist Trump. Because in my opinion, that is not a good way to do it. It gives them a bad name.

Channel 8 is reporting in Winston-Salem how, on weekends, one lady said they feed 1,000 children on Sunday. If it’s that bad in Winston-Salem, it’s got to be that bad all over the US. Anybody that the fifth grade was their senior year in school would know that you shouldn’t be bringing anybody else into this country when you’ve got people here that’s in that need of food. I don’t mean not feed them. We need to feed them where they’re at and not bring them here. They’re maybe not old enough to remember the Berlin airlift after World War II. They sent stuff overseas and kept the people there where they could speak that language. Germany was one of the countries. And fed them. But I don’t know what’s going to happen to this country. Maybe some of them will wake up and decide one day, we don’t need to bring any more people in, not at this time. That’s my opinion.

I’m calling about HB2 that Roy Cooper is on TV about saying he wants to repeal, repeal. Well, he’s the one that started all this. He said it was a stain on him. Well, he started the stain. The stain is because of him. He started it. He’s the reason why Gov. McCrory is not the governor anymore because of this stain that he caused. And it’s on him. This is his bill, and it’s his. And it needs to stay on him. He’s the one that started all this, and it needs to stay on him. And I think it’s dirty that since he’s now the governor, or whatever, that he feels like he needs to appeal it, because he wants the ACC and all these people to stay. I think that’s really, really dirty of him, you know, to stand up there, Mr. Holier Than Thou, saying he wants to repeal it, because he’s the governor, and we’re going to lose all this money.

The Democrat Party is nothing but a huge hate group. They are the largest hate group in the country. They preach tolerance, but anybody who doesn’t believe like they do, they do not show any tolerance. They show nothing but hate. The Democrats hate anybody who doesn’t believe the same that they do. They are not one bit tolerant of conservatives and Republicans. Just look at the hate that Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the losers, the ones that lost the last election. Like I said, they are a huge hate group who hate and despise anybody who doesn’t believe like they do. Their narrow-minded way of thinking has almost destroyed America.

This is an encouragement to North Carolina families to stop the county’s Department of Social Services fraudulent use of Title IV-E. I think you should ask your lawyer to make sure that this is judicial determination that gives the DSS responsibility for placement and care of your children based on due process, evidentiary standards and properly concluded findings of fact. Determination should not be based on the perjury of a DSS caseworker, lack of due process concerning North Carolina DSS policies and procedures, or violation of constitutional rights. Remember, nobody has any reasons to justify turning your right into privileges that they can just take away.

Folks, when a judge in Hawaii can put a stop to the presidential executive order that is intended to protect our country, protect you and me, and to secure our borders, then I believe the progressives and the left have gone overboard. Way, way, too far. Secondly, I’m afraid we’ve reached the point, or quickly reaching the point, where they have won. This is ridiculous that a judge in Hawaii can make such a ruling. Now I know that there’s another court or judge, federal judge in Maryland, who has also abandoned his executive order, but I think what we’re seeing is that how the left over the years, over time has infiltrated our court system. And, now, just as a private citizen, I’m at the point where that I don’t have faith in our judicial system.

I urge the City Council and county commissioners to put all city and county contracts out for public bid. When someone supplies the city or county with a service, let’s make sure we get the best bid and the best service. We want the taxpayers to get the most for their money. When somebody works for the city and county, and they start a business, and the city or county uses those services, this contract should go out on bid. It shouldn’t automatically go to that person that retired from the city. It should go out on bid to avoid any kind of crony capitalism. So let’s make sure that this is done fairly, that these contracts are bid on to make sure we get the most for our money.

I was wondering about all this Russia crud. I don’t quite understand it because it looks like you would want your president to be talking to Russia and in good terms. It sounds like everybody thinks Russia is a big, mean, bad bear and that you’re not supposed to have no communication with it. That’s the type of thought that will start another war. You know what I mean? At least our president is talking to Russia and knows the president of Russia on a first-name basis to the point we don’t have to worry at night when we go to bed if we’re going to be here in the morning, you know? I think it’s kind of ridiculous. I don’t know if the Democrats are just not intelligent and trying to stir something up, or what. But if I was a senator or congressman, I think it would be very intelligent to be on a first-name basis with the president of Russia.

The state keeps raising fees. And we’re not getting any raises.

I am 62 years old now, and the way our society is headed nowadays, God forgive me, but I am so thankful I am not any younger now. When I was growing up doing what was right and not wrong in the view of society was what everyone strived for. Also, today, up now seems to be down. Right is wrong. Wrong is right. Black is white. White is black. Any mention of moral upbringing in the 1950s, and at least the early 1960s, is considered old-fashioned or taboo nowadays. I have two 20-something nephews that have their heads on straight and are not snowflakes, I’m happy to say. I can’t say that for the majority of their generation. For all those reasons and more, I thank my lucky stars I came along when I did.

It’s obvious what kind of politics Greensboro news is on. Saturday, March 18, the front page tells all the awful things that’s going to happen if Donald Trump gets his way on cutting different agencies. What I’d like to see them do is give the same coverage if a nuclear bomb is shot above North Carolina and explodes what will happen to us as far as our electricity and other things that would go out. And people have forgotten they don’t have to fire it from over there. They can come within 10 miles of this coast and shoot one off, or maybe two. Remember, they’ve got $150 billion in cash, cash, I’m saying again, that President Obama and John Kerry gave them to build it with.

So, Trump’s new budget slashes the EPA about 30 percent. So the EPA, which is to me a life-saving agency, an environment-saving agency, is going to be slashed in a way so that companies like, you know, Duke Energy can spew their coal ash waste wherever they want. Thanks, Trump. Is that what you people voted for that voted for Trump to ruin our environment? Cause that’s what you’re getting.

These judges that block Trump, letting these people come in, if something happens in this country, they’re going to absolutely blame Trump. They should be got off the bench. And remember this, Barack Obama is not out of politics. He is as deep in it as he’s ever been. He’s right in the middle of it. He’s not done trying to transform America. He said, I’m going to fundamentally going to transform the USA. We didn’t need any transforming. He done a lot of it, but Trump is trying to undo some of it. Some of it is that Obamacare. The first thing that should have never been enacted to start with. And anybody that knows anything knows that. But they should – Trump has more intelligence coming in of what’s going on than these judges have. And they shouldn’t be allowed to block it.

I’d like to add my two cents’ worth to the Say Yes to Education debate. If it was supported exclusively by donors, they would have every right to say who was included. However, since taxpayer money is included, it should cover every student in Guilford County – public, charter and Christian, etc. It would be more realistic to put a cap on the amount of money the parents could make to be included. It would not be a hardship for many of the parents who are now included to send their child to college. However, who wouldn’t take it if you hand it to them?
