Dear Rhino. I’m writing the obituary of three of Greensboro’s longtime residents. Yes, indeed, these healthy and living life oak trees were quietly murdered behind the construction fencing at the Steven Tanger entertainment center downtown Greensboro. All that is left are three healthy stumps with deep roots protruding from the ground like monuments of what were old members of our city. These trees were a rare oak, nondeciduous variety, which means their green leaves were always present in winter and summer, like the city of Greensboro’s logo, which may be why they were planted years ago. I worked downtown for decades and admired these quiet and strong residents.

Yes, I think that the sit-in museum, civil rights museum, whatever the heck it’s called, should close its doors. I’m tired of the city using taxpayers’ money to give to the museum, and Jones, himself, didn’t even know who owned the building. And, to me, it’s just a big joke, and they should close the doors and fire the four employees that they do have because a lot of that money, to me, is being pocketed and spent where it shouldn’t be spent. So the only way to resolve that is to close the doors, sell the building. Just get rid of it.

I see in here where somebody wants Pat McCrory to shut up and go away and that Roy Cooper won the election. Under Pat McCrory we came from a $2 billion deficit and went to a surplus. He has a fund set aside for emergencies. I believe it’s a half-billion-dollar fund, i.e., just like the Matthew hurricane. Those people there are getting the help they would never have gotten under Cooper, because Cooper wants to spend everything that comes through the door. Roy Cooper never did his job when he was attorney general. And I doubt very seriously he’s going to do his job as governor. One thing, he’s not going to be able to get rid of the HB2 bill. Hopefully these senators and congressmen are going to be the ones that’s going to come in there and stop that.

I’m a former foreign service specialist, and I just want to say an honor and true honor of Fidel Castro’s untimely passing. And in respect to the words of our president, who quote says, Fidel’s legacy will be written by history. OK. End quote. Let me just relate the best story that I ever heard about the CIA. And that is we flew out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, into the Gulf of Mexico. And we flew into the weather patterns west of Cuba and shot dry ice into the weather fronts which naturally made it rain profusely 300 miles, 500 miles from Cuba and dropped all the moisture out of the atmosphere. So, when the front reaches Cuba, there’s no rain. So, absolute drought. In honor of Fidel’s passing, I’d have to say, the CIA gave us more bang for the buck that even Donald Trump is going to give us.

Yeah, I’d like to know something. Who is this Jill Stein? I even went and looked at a North Carolina ballot sheet. She’s not even listed as a presidential candidate in North Carolina. I was cut off. In regards to the Air Force CIA flights out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, to the weather fronts in front of Cuba, it was silver iodide, dry ice, shots that were positioned in the cloud fronts, weather fronts approaching Cuba and just totally drops all the moisture out and created a drought in Cuba. I’m not sure the duration of the program, but you really have to admire American problem solving, because that is bang for your back. That is efficiency. That is low-cost. You know what? I’m sitting here watching the Cops marathon. And just out of curiosity, we wrote on a piece of paper, we wrote how many white cops, how many black cops, how many white suspects and how many black suspects. And interesting or not, watching Cops over the last six years on their marathon, they’re showing them nonstop back-to-back, there’s more white police officers on their show than there are on African American, or any other race, OK? And we noticed by the tick box, there’s more African – there’s twice as many African Americans getting arrested for stuff than whites. Now, this is a fact. I’m sitting here looking at the marathon. I’m calling in regard to Duke Energy’s appliance repair or replacement program. We have two people that are in charge of this agency in Greensboro. One is piedmont triad and the other one is welfare reform liaison. Welfare reform liaison has received my application almost four months ago. As of now, I’ve heard nothing from them. The last call I got from them three weeks ago when I called was that my name was on the list for the inspector. How long does it take an inspector to come out to find out that your appliance needs to be replaced or repaired? These two agencies are dragging their – I guess a good word would be legs. They’re dragging their legs. If I was an inspector, there is one way you can go out and inspect 10 houses in one day. What is the hold up on this? Every time Greensboro people get federal month or money from an agency, they drag their legs, and they don’t do what they need to do.

The piece on WGHP Fox 8 this evening featured a Greensboro public transit bureaucrat who was claiming their new electric buses would save a bunch of money compared to diesel buses. Then Katie Nordeen closed the segment by informing us that the money for the program will come from local taxpayer approved bonds and the federal government. Since when did saving money incur extra expenditure? And that, dear readers, is how our government saves money. Thank goodness they don’t save us any more money. Hello. I just saw on News 2 that Gov. Pat. McCrory just conceded to Roy Cooper of all things. I sure do hate it, because I was really hoping that Pat McCrory could win. But you know what? This is the sad part. The sad part of it is that Roy Cooper, he’s a liar really. He really is. He lied about that House Bill 2. He’s the one – the Democrats at the one that put all this House Bill 2 up. It happened during Bev Perdue’s tenure. And she was the worst governor that we’ve ever had. Pat McCrory walked into the biggest mess that any governor could walk into after her. But he never said anything wrong about her. But, you know, they were so ugly. They have been so ugly about Pat McCrory when he was dealing with Hurricane Matthew and all this other stuff.

I don’t know what we had going on with China. They went out in international waters and built land and put airbases, and all Obama done was take a look at it and go out and play golf. Why are there no parking spaces for people with disability at LeBauer Park? And why is there so much loose sheetrock lying around different places? Why do people from the North continually degrade and put down people from the South? I wish this message would get to the new governor, Cooper, since he was attorney general. If the state legislature would get busy now and just told the boy, a shooting at a Christmas parade in Sanford, North Carolina, what he was doing with a gun at a Christmas parade makes no sense. If they would pass a law down in Raleigh, North Carolina, if you’re caught with a pistol or any kind of firearm outside your home, you automatically got 24 months. Try him and give him 24 months. Now that Republicans have won it all, the House, the Senate, the White House, the governorships, just about everything there is to win, they can still include the Democrats. What they need to do is take all of the offices of the Democrats and move them down in the basement, or maybe to another building, away from the White House, give them a coloring book and some different colored crayons, a variety of different colors, and let them color pictures and draw while the Republicans run the country. Hi. I’d just like to make a comment. You know how a lot of people nowadays don’t use turn signals? I think some of these people that don’t use turn signals don’t even bother to look at somebody else. I was coming home a few minutes ago, making a left turn into my driveway. I turned my turn signal on two houses down from my driveway. The car behind me starts to pass me as I start to turn into my driveway. And these fools don’t even pay attention to what anybody is doing. Just sitting here watching Roy Cooper on channel 12 news. I believe there is a majority, super majority, in the House and Senate in Raleigh. I don’t believe that no real chance of him disrupting HB2. Thank goodness for our family’s safety, because he has no intention of caring about our family’s safety. We don’t want our women in the bathroom with men. We don’t want people wandering in there just because they think they’re a woman today, and tomorrow they turn the $2 billion deficit into a surplus, and has a superfund set aside to handle situations like flooding in North Carolina. Hey, John. I read your story on why Pat McCrory lost. You forgot to mention several things. He had to run statewide since the GOP could not gerrymander the whole state. Also, the people of North Carolina remember how the Republicans in Raleigh treated the school teachers and education in general, K through 12 through the UNC system. The General Assembly only came up with a suitable teachers’ raise just in time for the November election. He also signed off on tax cuts for the wealthy and expanded the sales tax on so many other things, including labor for car repairs. The governor should make a strong attempt to set the agenda for the General Assembly. Instead, McCrory seemed to see his role as simply signing off on the right-wing legislation that they passed. I will give him credit for two things: The statewide bond issue seemed to be his idea, and the good response to the flooding in Eastern North Carolina seemed to go pretty well. But, overall, Pat McCrory didn’t really deserve to be reelected.

It looks to me like we are well on our way to a one-party political system in our country. The Democratic Party has been reduced to just a coastal party. What I mean by that is, the Democratic Party only has control of a few states on each coast. The rest of the country is Republican. The Democratic Party has been found out by the American people to be nothing but the modern-day plantation owners who have used and abused poor people for years for their votes, and now they found out. Uber should have never been able to get started up in North Carolina unless their cars are going to be registered as commercial vehicles. Any other company that provides the exact same service is required by law to register their cars as commercial vehicles, under a commercial insurance policy. It’s just not fair that other companies have to have this burden and have to pay the fees of commercially registered vehicles and commercially insured vehicles when Uber provides the same service, and they’re able to dodge the insurance requirements. It’s just not fair. The insurance requirements are in place by law to protect the consumer.
