In order to help voters know who to vote for in the election – one that’s now just around the corner – a large group of community and education organizations have joined forces to host the virtual “4 Our Future” candidate forum series.

This series, which will be conducted online, is being made possible by: Action Greensboro, Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, East Greensboro Now, Greensboro Jaycees, Guilford Education Alliance, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, synerG Young Professionals, University of North Carolina at Greensboro and YWCA of Greensboro.

Forum organizers say the forums will be nonpartisan.

The series kicked off Tuesday, October 11 at noon, when candidates for the Guilford County Board of Education were streaming from the Guilford Education Alliance Facebook Page. That forum, like all of them, will be left up on Facebook for viewing at any time.

The series features two upcoming virtual forum events …

  • Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. Guilford County Board of Commissioners candidates will be streaming from the YWCA of Greensboro Facebook Page.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. NC Senate and NC House contenders will be streaming from the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

There may also be a forum for US Congressional candidates.  If that takes place, details will be announced later.

If you haven’t made up your mind yet who to vote for, you might want to watch the live debates or the replays.  Guilford County early voting kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 20 and Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

According to organizers, the candidate forum series is meant to “engage area citizens in local, state and federal government and raise awareness around the upcoming election.”

Registration isn’t required to watch and anyone can view the forum by visiting the appropriate Facebook page. For those who would like to watch after the fact, recordings of the virtual forums will remain on Facebook for viewing.

Questions from the public will not be taken during the forums.
