These days a lot of people read their books on Kindle or listen to their books on their iPhones, but there are still a lot of people out there who like the feel of a real old-timey book in their hands.

If you’re one of them, you should check out the large book sale that will take place in downtown High Point this weekend.

The Friends of High Point Public Library will hold their winter book sale on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 on the first floor of the library at 901 N. Main St.

Hardcovers, trade paperbacks, DVDs and games will be $2. Books on CDs, records, pocket paperbacks and music CDs will be $1. All children’s books will cost 50 cents while coffee table books and sets are priced as marked.

On Friday, there will be a “Friends Only” pre-sale from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  If you’re not a member, you can join at the door. Individual memberships start at $10. Existing memberships can be renewed at the door as well.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it out Friday night – there will be plenty of books left to choose from on Saturday when the sale opens up to the public. The regular book sale will take place from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.

Then, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Friends of the Library members will engage in the popular “bag sale,” when they can fill a bag for just $4.  Bags will be provided.

All proceeds from the sale will go to support the library’s programs and services. Those who would like more information about the book sale or Friends of the Library memberships should contact Jo Williamson at 336-932-1342.
