High Point residents often complain that they get treated like second class citizens by Guilford County government.
However, they have no similar complaint against the United States of America and therefore, like practically everyone else in the country, the city will be celebrating the Fourth of July in a big way. The High Point Parks and Recreation Department will host the Fourth of July celebration, known each year as The Uncle Sam Jam.
The party on the Fourth has been a High Point tradition since 1973 and this year’s celebration promises to be as fun as ever. The 2022 version of the Uncle Sam Jam will feature “family-friendly” musical performances by Camel City Yacht Club at 5 p.m., followed by Hampton Drive at 6:30 p.m.
The Family Fun Zone will offer free activities for kids while a $20 all-inclusive wristband will allow additional access to the inflatables, rock climbing wall and jousting area.
It’s not a Fourth of July celebration without plenty of food, and there will be a variety of offerings at the Jam: Food vendors will be selling pizza, wings, burgers, hot dogs, ice cream and shaved ice, popcorn, funnel cakes, lemonade and other tasty treats.
Gates open at Oak Hollow Festival Park – 1841 Eastchester Drive in High Point – at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4.
The cost is $10 per vehicle.
The fireworks show over Oak Hollow Lake begins at 9:15 p.m.
The city cautions: “Please note that the fireworks show will not be visible from Oak Hollow Marina or Sailboat Point this year. Parking fees will not be charged at these locations.”
Pets are not allowed at the Uncle Sam Jam – but coolers, chairs and blankets are.
Unfortunately, alcohol isn’t allowed, and entrants should be prepared to have their bags and coolers checked at the gate.
Tents, glass containers, fishing equipment, fireworks, grills and drones are also prohibited at the Jam.
Oak Hollow Lake will close to boats promptly at 7 p.m. on July 4. Oak Hollow Golf Course will close at 7 p.m., and all golfers must be off the course by then as well.
The Uncle Sam Jam 2022 sponsors include Pepsi, HH Architecture, Ilderton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Fiat and the High Point Parks and Recreation Department.
This news publication is such a joke, all y’all can do is a hop, a skip, and then complain about Greensboro or Guilford officials.
Thanks Rhino for the years of providing a valuable service in our community. We appreciate the forum you provide and the information based articles. There are plenty of other places to get the liberal company lines, if that is what someone wants to hear.
