Piedmont Triad International Airport will be hosting a TSA PreCheck enrollment event together with IDEMIA – a multinational company based in France that provides identity-related security services such as facial recognition and other biometric identification tools. The company is a TSA PreCheck authorized enrollment provider.
Those seeking the service will be able to enroll at 1000 Ted Johnson Parkway from Monday, Aug. 12 to Friday, Aug. 16. The hours will run from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The program is only open to US citizens, US nationals, and lawful permanent residents.
According to Piedmont Triad Airport officials, the enrollment process is “quick, convenient, and even faster when the application is completed online beforehand.”
The in-person enrollment requires that applicants provide proof of identity, proof of citizenship, fingerprints and a photo.
IDEMIA offers TSA PreCheck enrollment for $78 and, if approved, travelers get a five-year membership in the program.
Following the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number – also known as their “KTN” – in about three to five days. The KTN number has to be added to flight reservations in order to use the benefits of TSA PreCheck.
TSA PreCheck was created in late 2011 as a way to provide “low-risk travelers with a smoother experience through airport security.”
Airport officials call it a great option for travelers looking to save time.
Once you become a member, you don’t need to remove your shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets.
Users can access TSA PreCheck dedicated screening lanes at more than 200 participating US airports across the country.
If you can’t make it out to the PTI enrollment event but are interested in enrolling in TSA PreCheck, you may fill out the application online and schedule an appointment at one of more than 560 enrollment centers nationwide.
If you have any questions, you can contact the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority at 336-665-5600.
I don’t envy the VIPs, not at all; I envy the illegal aliens that don’t go through TSA checks at all, and in addition get a free ticket to wherever that want to go with an envelope of cash and a free phone.
Then join them since you envy them so much. Just denounce your citizenship, give up all your belongings except what you can carry in a book bag and hit the road! Yippee so much fun. Immigrants are soooo lucky.
