A few years ago, the Guilford County Parks Department got caught off guard by not being able to find enough lifeguards to hire, and that meant some pools opened late. Since then, they have started looking early in the year for lifeguards and other workers to help operate the parks during the very active months of summer.
So, even though it is just mid-March right now, Guilford County Parks is gearing up for the busy season by attempting to fill part-time positions at its parks across the county.
If you’re looking for work like the outdoors, and you’re interested, you’ll have three chances to get hired on the spot at upcoming county hiring events.
And workers are needed in all parts of the county: The parks department is offering part-time jobs at Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro, Gibson Park in High Point, Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, Northeast Park in Gibsonville, and Southwest Park in Greensboro. Positions include park attendants, cashiers, event hosts, lifeguards, and pool managers—all starting at $15 an hour.
If you’re at least 15 years old and looking for a great first job, lifeguard positions are available. Also, if you’re hired as a lifeguard or pool manager, Guilford County Parks will cover the cost of your American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification and CPR/AED training—so all that useful training will be completely free to you.
In-person hiring events will be held at 201 W. Market St. in Greensboro, on the 3rd Floor on the following dates:
Tuesday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A virtual hiring session is also available for those who apply in advance. That will take place on Tuesday, March 25, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and a link will be emailed to applicants.
To speed up the process, applicants are encouraged to apply in advance at bit.ly/2025SumJobs. Be sure to bring a form of ID (driver’s license or passport) and direct deposit information to the hiring event. If you’re under 18, you’ll need a parent or guardian’s signature if hired.

$15/hr for this job is a deal – for unskilled employees. I know skilled adults in high pressure jobs that don’t make that. Oh, I see, a GOVERNMENT phoney-bahlony feel-good job.
I need a job just to pay the taxes levied on me to pay people like this. Oh, the irony!
What skilled high-pressure job pays 31k per year? You can’t even live solo in an apartment for that wage.
That was entry level call center wage 15 years ago. I think you wage history is out of date.
I worked this job @ age 14, around 1956. Pay was 25c/hr. That’s what unskilled labor for someone who had nothing else to do, and wanted to learn some responsibility, was worth.
