A lot of people in states around the country smoke and sell marijuana without anyone batting an eye, but a Guilford County man just found out that, in North Carolina, law enforcement still takes marijuana cases seriously – especially when they involve large amounts of marijuana, cash, a handgun and multiple search warrants.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit seized marijuana, cash and a handgun after carrying out three search warrants in Greensboro last week.
Guilford County Sheriff Danny Rogers reported that, on Wednesday, June 3, the unit concluded a narcotics-related investigation that led to search warrants being executed at two Greensboro residences and one storage unit.
The warrants were served at 3301 Shallowford Drive, 102 Saint Thomas Drive, Apartment 3A and a storage unit.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the searches resulted in the seizure of about six pounds of marijuana, one handgun, $55,135 in cash and paraphernalia consistent with the sale and distribution of narcotics.
At the conclusion of the investigation, 30-year-old Malik Rashaud Moseley was arrested.
Moseley was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, three counts of felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping or selling a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia and misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun.
Moseley received a $7,500 secured bond at his first appearance and has since been released from the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro.
The Sheriff’s Office didn’t provide additional details on the investigation, including how long the Street Crimes Unit had been investigating Moseley or whether additional arrests are expected.
