On Saturday, April 27, the City of High Point and Keep High Point Beautiful will put on what will be the 20th anniversary of the city’s Great American Cleanup. The annual event that’s been going on for two decades will be a massive attempt to clean up as much litter as possible throughout all areas of High Point.

If you would like to take some time off from watching the NBA Playoffs or the Stanley Cup Playoffs that weekend, this is a good excuse to get off the couch, get outside and get some exercise – all for a very good cause.

Volunteers can register at www.highpointnc.gov/khpb.

Preregistration is requested but not required, and clean-up supplies will be distributed to volunteers that day at Pinnacle Financial at 1585 N. University Parkway (which was formerly 1300 E. Hartley Dr.) in High Point.

Not only will you be helping your city out, but you’ll also get a chance to win money or a nice night out on the town: All volunteers will be entered to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards or one of four $50 restaurant gift cards.

Participants are also being encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to local food banks. For every food item donated, participants will get an additional entry into the gift card drawing.

The 2024 Great American Cleanup is being sponsored by Blue Ridge Companies, Fleet Feet of High Point, Keep America Beautiful, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Leggett & Platt Inc., Little Caesars Pizza, Pinnacle Financial Partners and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

If you’d like more information regarding the event, you can contact High Point Beautification Supervisor Rebecca Coplin by calling 336-883-3520 or by sending her an email to rebecca.coplin@highpointnc.gov.
