Residents in parts of Greensboro may notice a heavy emergency response presence and hear simulated gunfire on several days this month as Guilford County Emergency Services and numerous partner agencies conduct active assailant training exercises.
According to Guilford County Emergency Services, the multi-agency exercises have been taking place on May 6 and May 7, and the exercises will continue on May 20 and May 21 in the area around Maple Street and Vine Street in Greensboro.
County officials stated that the exercises involve Guilford County Emergency Services, area law enforcement agencies, city and county fire departments, Guilford Metro 911 and Guilford Technical Community College.
The training scenarios are scheduled to take place during normal business hours and will occur largely inside structures in the area.
Officials said the coordinated exercises are intended to help ensure that responders from multiple agencies can work together effectively during a real-world emergency.
Residents near the exercise area should expect to see a large number of emergency vehicles and personnel on the scheduled training dates. According to county officials, people in the area may also hear simulated gunfire and other sounds associated with the exercises.
County leaders emphasized that the activity is only a training exercise and doesn’t represent an actual threat to the public.
Officials also stated that signs alerting the public to the exercises will be posted around the area on training days.

Just a suggestion…at Ft.Bragg they have an area roughly the size of a city block called MOUT City. MOUT stands for Military Operations in Urban Terrain.
Maybe consider asking the military if using that facility might be better.
Martial law? Name something our govt does well.
I ignored them during the CWP/Klan/Nazi shootout years ago. This is just normalcy in ANY BLUE city in America.
invite the ‘outraged’ & ‘suicide by cop’ & kill 2 birds 1 stone
Just another normal day for Greensboro….it may be real or may be planned mayhem.
Guilford County EMS units are yellow with gold and blue stripes. High Point Rescue Squad trucks are blue. The SWAT dude is pointing his weapon at the EMS chick’s head, while a rescue worker is pointing his weapon at a victim on a stretcher who seems to have a head lying between his legs (perhaps an alien so deserving of a rifle being pointed at him?). There’s a strange gaggle of firefighters climbing a stairway to heaven in front of the Communications truck, and for some reason, a firefighter is on some strange apparatus on top of it, which I don’t believe it has. This is an “exciting” but comic book AI version of what a scene would look like, I guess, not reality. Those units all smushed in one area isn’t logical, they wouldn’t be able to move in or out as needed. Nice warning, though.
Just trying to have some fun.
Ignore the sirens and gunshots in Greensboro? How could one do this as it has become so common place in the City of Greensboro? Has our new Greensboro Chief of Police gone to work yet? Thanks to GPD’s complete failure to enforce the laws of our City, State, and Country for years we now all live in the dangers of a cesspool of criminal activity here!
i just got back from mt pleasant, charleston, sc where i saw NO cops. returning here, i see LOTS of cops; what am i to infer ? austin, did i use the semicolon correctly ?
