In recent years, some local governments have had trouble finding enough lifeguards and other staff to keep the public pools open and, as everyone knows, it’s still really, really difficult to find good help these days.

But that’s exactly what the High Point Parks & Recreation Department is looking for right now, quality help ready to work.

To maximize its chances, the department is hosting a Summer Job Hiring Event for seasonal positions that are filled when the weather turns nice and local residents start to use the parks facilities. The hiring event will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Roy B. Culler, Jr. Senior Center at 921 Eastchester Drive in High Point. Go to Suite 1230 once you get there.

Some of the seasonal job opportunities this year include lifeguards and other pool staff, summer camp staff and park attendants.

If you want to be a lifeguard for the city this summer, those jobs require applicants to be 15 or older while other positions require candidates be at least 16.  Still other positions require applicants be 18 years of age or older.

If you don’t know anything about saving lives but want to be a lifeguard, don’t worry, training will be provided at no cost by the Parks & Rec Department if you are a qualified applicant.  Lifeguard applicants should know how to swim.

Interviews for all the positions will be conducted onsite for qualified job seekers, and all those applying are encouraged to visit www.highpointnc.gov/prjobs to complete an online application in advance and learn more about the jobs available.
