It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and this week the City of High Point sent out an invitation to everyone and anyone who wants to come to a “Holiday” event where there will no doubt be a lot of Christmas cheer.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, the High Point Public Library will host “Holiday Time @the Market” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held at the library at 901 N. Main St. in downtown High Point.
The celebration will include live music, craft vendors, fresh produce, food, beverages and more. Those vendors will be stationed outside the library in the Farmer’s Market area of the parking lot, as well as on the main plaza area in front of the library.
If all that’s not enough, the city’s press release/invitation states, “Guests are also invited to have their photos taken with Santa’s sleigh.” Interestingly, the announcement doesn’t say anything at all about Santa himself being there. If not, hopefully there’s adequate security to keep any kids from commandeering the sleigh and riding off into the sky during a photo op.
One hopes the city will be able to secure a Santa – they are, after all, a dime a dozen this time of year.
The City of High Point recently announced a hazardous waste collection event at which city residents had to show proof of residency in the city. In the holiday spirit, however, there’s no need to show ID here. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required either.

Along with the announcement of the holiday event, the city announced this week that High Point city offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. (Environmental Services will complete Thursday collections on Friday, Nov. 12.)
