On Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1 a.m., deputies from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department went to Colfax to investigate an attempted breaking and entering at Colfax Gun and Ammo at 9420 W. Market St.

Since that gun shop is very close to Kernersville, the Sheriff’s Department contacted the Kernersville Police Department and asked for assistance.

According to a November 20 press release from the Sheriff’s Department, during the response, two Kernersville Police Department officers discovered a suspicious vehicle parked on Ira Drive – a short, dead-end road that connects with West Market Street near the gun shop location.

When the officers showed up, the suspicious car accelerated “and attempted to flee in the direction of the Kernersville officers.”

The release went on to state that one of the Kernersville police officers fired his gun – however, no one was injured as a result of the shot.

The two men in the vehicle were apprehended.

Ahmodd Rasheed Brown, a 21-year-old black male living in Greensboro, was arrested and charged with four felonies and a misdemeanor:

• Felony Breaking and Entering

• Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm

• Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official (2 counts)

• Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Gun. Joshua Elisha King – a 22-year-old black male also living in Greensboro, was arrested and charged with the following:

• Felony Breaking and Entering

• Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm

• Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official (2 counts)

• Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Gun.

Brown received a $500,000 secured bond while King is being held with no bond. Though the suspects have been apprehended, this is an ongoing investigation and the Sheriff’s Department is requesting that anyone with information about the incident call Detective J. Wright at 336-641-5963.
