On Monday night, June 10, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reported that, at 1:23 a.m. that morning, Guilford County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from 54-year-old Andrew Ryan Caetto at 7504 Skippers Trace in Oak Ridge.

 When the deputies arrived, they had an encounter with Caetto during which 29-year-old Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Master Corporal Dakota Brim was shot.

Brim was taken to an area hospital and, very fortunately, Brim has since been released.

Caetto has been arrested.

He was also transported to a hospital after being treated for what were described as “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Caetto has been charged with multiple crimes following the shooting for which few details are currently available.

 Those charges include:

  • Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury (under N.C. General Statute 14-32a)
  • Misdemeanor Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (under N.C. General Statute 14-33c4)
  • Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Firearm) under N.C. General Statute 14-34.5a)

Caetto is currently being held at the Guilford County jail in downtown Greensboro with no bond and he has a first appearance hearing scheduled for Tuesday, June 11.

According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, there’s currently no threat to the community related to the incident.

As usual, in these types of cases, the Sheriff’s Office notes that it is an ongoing investigation and therefore no further details will be released at this time.
