On Thursday, April 8, Matthews Specialty Vehicles announced that it will hold a celebration to honor the opening of a new facility as well as the addition of 50 new jobs to the company’s payroll.

Matthews Specialty Vehicles makes vehicles for medical providers, local governments and others and has designed and manufactured a variety of vehicles since 1992,  including those purpose-built for mobile healthcare, blood collection and education, as well as for mobile dental services and mammography screening

Matthews is now making vehicles that are used for COVID-19 testing and vaccine administration.  Business during the pandemic has obviously been good since the company is opening a new facility and hiring more people.

To celebrate the expansion, the company is having an invitation-only, grand opening ribbon-cutting next week at its new building at 211 American Ave., which is off  I-73 in Greensboro between W. Market Street and W. Friendly Ave.  Those invited to attend will get building tours, see a vehicle showcase and get free health screenings.  They’ll also have a chance to win a raffle.

The 50 new jobs, expected to be filled by local residents consists of positions including electricians, carpenters and designers.

In addition to company employees, the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, and various government officials attending the event, there will also be “healthcare, education, law enforcement, and library partners” from all over the country.
