Pandemics are probably a good time to stock up on soap and, if you like specialty plant-based soap and soap products, you’ll no doubt be glad to hear that Greensboro is getting its own Buff City Soap store.

The national brand is known for soaps that are made in-store daily and are free of harsh chemicals, detergents, dyes, animal fats and sulfates.

Buff City Soap is opening this week in the Shops at Friendly at Suite 116 3334 W. Friendly Ave., where customers can also see the soap being made right before their very eyes – something that should be a lot more pleasant than watching sausage get made.

The new soap store – also dubbed by the chain as a “makery” – is slated to open on Thursday, Oct. 7.

There will be soap giveaways for the first 50 people who visit the store.  Check with the store for details.

The “Grand Opening” ceremony, however, won’t be until early January.

Founded in 2013, Buff City Soap stores seek to make an alternative to commercial soap and give customers the chance to “see the whole making process live” in each soap makery.

The store will offer over 30 scents across a line of handmade soap products that include bars, foaming hand soap and laundry soap products.  Buff City allows patrons to customize the scents and ingredients used in the process.

The new store in Greensboro is part of an expansion effort by the company that was founded less than a decade ago.

Buff City, which has been franchising its operations since 2018, is now in 23 states and has more than 135 stores. The fancy soap maker has been recognized in Entrepreneur’s Top 100 “Best of the New” franchises.
