It’s that time of year again, the time when Greensboro residents are being asked to lend a helping hand and spruce up the city.
Greensboro Beautiful Inc. is joining Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful and Keep High Point Beautiful in an effort to clean up the Triad, and the leaders of those cities are now encouraging everyone to participate in The Greatest American Cleanup, which will take place on Saturday, April 5.
In Greensboro, one lucky boulevard is getting some extra love and care: An event will be led by Greensboro Beautiful volunteers at Levette Field in Nocho Park to clean up Gate City Boulevard. Those who can help should come to the park at 1010 Duke St, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Supplies for this cleanup effort will be provided or, if you organize your own cleanup effort somewhere else in the city, you can pick up litter cleanup supplies at Gateway Gardens at 2800 E. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro.
To register to participate in the cleanup, or create your own, visit www.greensborobeautiful.org.
For more information, call Greensboro Beautiful at (336) 574-3574 or send an email to info@greensborobeautiful.org.
Other parts of the city will get cleaned up too since various groups have chosen their own neighborhoods or other areas to beautify.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and bring gloves along with refillable water bottles. Supplies will be provided; however, volunteers should feel free to bring their own as well.
After the cleanup of Gate City Blvd., light refreshments will be served and participants will be able to join with fellow community members to share an appreciation for “a cleaner, greener Triad.”
“We believe that a clean and beautiful community reflects the character of its residents,” said Amanda Garner, the executive director of Greensboro Beautiful. “By partnering with our neighboring cities, we’re beautifying our environment and strengthening the bonds within our community.”
For more information about Greensboro Beautiful, you can check out the group’s website or Facebook page, or reach out to Garner at director@greensborobeautiful.org.
One goal of Keep America Beautiful is to encourage communities to come together and have the country looking spiffy when America celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026.
Greensboro Beautiful, Keep High Point Beautiful, and Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful are affiliated nonprofit and city organizations with a stated mission of “enhancing the quality of life in our community through beautification efforts, environmental education, and community collaboration.”

Will the current council and commissioners be in the weeds waiting to get picked up and sent to the landfill
How did it get dirty? I live in a neighborhood some six blocks long. I don’t recall seeing any visible trash on the street or properties.
it’s a cultural thing . . . lack of.
Will this include some bulldozing of the trashy buildings that “showcase” one of the main entry points to Greensboro and the coliseum?
I can think of additional points of entry to this city from I-40 that need bulldozing of their respective environs.
How about a deep clean of city council?
