Everyone knows that Downtown Greensboro Inc. holds a massive Annual Fun Fourth celebration each year on Independence Day. But that’s just one of many big events going on in the region in the effort to celebrate the holiday this year. Here are some more that will be lighting up the skies –and packing the parks – across Guilford County and the surrounding areas:
Guilford County Parks Fireworks Extravaganza
Thursday, July 3, 4:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Northeast Park, 3441 Northeast Park Dr., Gibsonville
This is the county’s largest Independence Day celebration and it’s always a crowd-pleaser. Hosted by Guilford County Parks, the Fireworks Extravaganza features carnival rides, mini-golf, food trucks and live music from the Band of Oz at 6 p.m.
The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. sharp.
Admission is $10 per car or $1 per walk-up (cash only). Ride tickets are $2 each or 14 for $20, and rides require 1 to 4 tickets.
Plan ahead – gates close when the park hits its capacity. No alcohol, fireworks, firearms, or pets (except service animals) allowed.

Burlington’s July 3rd in the Park
Thursday, July 3, 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
255 E Kitchin St., Burlington
The City of Burlington is back with its annual July 3rd bash featuring park rides, live music, food vendors, and games.
A crowd favorite is the Hot Dog Eating Contest sponsored by Zack’s Hot Dogs, which runs from 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The night ends with a fireworks show at approximately 9:20 p.m.
The event is hosted by B-Town Events and is designed for families looking for a fun, easy evening in the park.
Uncle Sam Jam in High Point
Friday, July 4, Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
Oak Hollow Festival Park, 1841 Eastchester Dr., High Point
A High Point tradition since 1973, the Uncle Sam Jam offers music, food, and fireworks over Oak Hollow Lake.
A $10 cash-only parking fee applies, and there’s a $20 fee for the Family Fun Zone. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
Coolers, chairs, and blankets are welcome. But leave the pets, alcohol, tents, and drones at home. There will be cooler checks at the gate.
Note: Fireworks won’t be visible from the Oak Hollow Marina or Sailboat Point this year due to a change in the launch site.
Kernersville 4th of July Fireworks & Concert
Friday, July 4, 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Kernersville Elementary Raiders Field
You can celebrate the Fourth in Kernersville with live music by the Alek Ottaway Band, a wide variety of food trucks, face painting for the kids, and a fireworks show to close out the night.

Note: This event is separate from the Kernersville parade and 5K, which are organized by local civic clubs.
Davie County Independence Celebration
Saturday, July 5, 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Davie County Community Park Outdoor Amphitheater
If you’re still in a patriotic mood the day after the Fourth (and you aren’t too hungover), Davie County will be keeping the party going with a full evening of music and fireworks.
The concert features Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot and His & Hers, and wraps up with a massive fireworks show.
This is the largest Independence Day event in Davie County and organizers say that the best view is inside the park. Food trucks and beverages (including some for purchase) will be available.
