There are a few perks to living in Guilford County and one of them is that every year the county makes available some very good prices on trees, seeds and other nature-related items.  In 2021, that time of year has arrived.  The county is holding its annual Guilford County Soil and Water District Tree Sale from Tuesday, Jan. 19 to Friday, Jan. 22.

The Soil and Water District Commission is a county body that works to preserve nature and help farmers and others in Guilford County take the right steps for preserving the environment and keeping it clean.

Sean Trollinger, the education coordinator for that body, said this week that it’s a great time to come out and pick up what you want or need.  Some people have preordered items, but Trollinger said there is a lot of inventory available right now.

“There are lots of trees left for sale,” he said, “so come on by and purchase what you need.”

Trollinger added that no pre-order is necessary.

“We just ask that you arrive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and call 336-641-2440 for assistance,” he said.

The sale is taking place at the Guilford County Agricultural Center at 3309 Burlington Road in Greensboro.  Buyers should go to room 108.

The only forms of payment accepted are cash or check.

The county is selling bundles of 20 white pines for $7, while other trees – like Persimmon, Red Bud and Red Maple – will set you back just $2 each.

You can also get enough wildflower seed to cover 400 square feet for $7 – and get a deal on bird feeders, Bluebird Boxes and Wood Duck Boxes, which the county is selling in the range of $25 to $40 each.

If you’re looking for a specific item you may want to call first to check availability.
